Could someone tell me the names of the funeral homes in Elbert Co. during that time period? Thank you very much. Shirley Flynt

There is a new web site that just came on line last week. It is the GA-Cemetery and Volunteer List web site. It is located at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~gacemete/ We have some cemetery list and links to others. If you have information on cemteries in GA that you would like to share with others, here is a good place to do it. You might find it interesting. Don't forget to sign the guest book! Doris
Happy Holidays, I know I've not seen hardly any posts lately and I'm hoping that you guys are still reading any queries that might come thru. I am trying to find out if any of you "COUSINS" of mine, related to me thru Elias Sanders b 1775, have seen or have copies of the original land records for Elias. I'm "not" talking about the one's that mention him and his father-in-law, Thomas Carter, Sr. These are land records for Thomas Carter, not Elias. If anyone has them or has seen them, please email me. If you don't have them and live near the Archives, and you don't mind looking for Land Deeds, Headright Grants or whatever it might be, let me know as I will pay for it but living in Dallas,TX, it's not that easy for me. Sure I could order it but I want to try this first as it cost more to order from the Archives when you live out of state. I'm also not talking about the lottery lands that he won in 1821 and after as I know where that land is located. I'm trying to determine when Elias might have first got land in GEORGIA and where that land was located. I'm sure this land, if he had a deed to it vs inheriting it, was the land he lived on in what was FRANKLIN CO, to become ELBERT CO, and eventually, HART CO, GA. We've all heard he got land in Elbert Co in 1807/08 and the deed is said to be on file with the Secretary of State but the Archives should have those records, shouldn't they. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Anyone knowing the answer to that can email me back, please. You can get 1820 Elbert from here: http://www.allcensus.com/--follow the links to the Census records on CD. If you don't mind having them on microfilm, you can get them pretty cheaply at: http://www.censusmicrofilm.com/ Hope that helps. Can anyone on this list tell me where I can view online, or obtain, a copy/index of the 1820 federal census for Elbert County, Georgia? I would also be interested in the 1810, 1800, and 1830 Census information for that county. Rev. Dozier THORNTON brought a couple of children when he arrived in what was to become Elbert County in 1784. and later added more to the family. Benjamin THORNTON, Sr., seems to have lived from 1779 to 1854. I know that Rev. Dozier THORNTON had moved to Franklin County in time to be enumerated in the 1840 U. S. Census (as "Dagier" Thornton) and was buried in Franklin County when he died in 1843. My question? Where is Rev. Benjamin THORNTON Sr. buried? Jim Lee jimlee@beachlink.com
Does anyone know any reliable people willing to do research in the Elberton/Middleton area? Thanks, Janet
I am searching for information on the parents of George ANDERSON, who married Sarah Ann GOSS, widow of Maben (Mayborn) CRENSHAW (GRANSHAW), some time after Mayben/Mayborn's 1792 death in Elbert Co, GA. The 1850 Lauderdale Co, MS census shows Sarah A. to have been 90 years old and born NC but I expect this age was somewhat inflated and she was slightly younger. The ANDERSON family moved in the mid-1820's to Autauga Co, AL. Some family members then removed to Lauderdale Co, MS in the mid-1830's. Sarah died 1851 in Lauderdale Co, MS. I am not sure where George ANDERSON died. The last county record I have found for him is an 1831 property transfer to one of his son's in Autauga Co, AL. Does anyone have information on the early Elbert Co, GA ANDERSON family? Carol Shrader Virginia Beach, VA
One more time. Ya'll I apologize if this is the 2nd time I've sent this. I just got a notice of a "failure to send" from my email program, telling me the address is not correct and it returned it to me. Having some weird things going on with the program. I am trying to find where Capt Barton's District was located in Franklin Co Georgia? Any info whether a little or a lot, is very much appreciated. Just in case a time frame is needed, it was listed this way on the 1840 Census of Franklin Co, GA. What area would this be today? Again, any info helps Thanks in advance, Gale Sanders _________________________________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com.
