I am looking for any information on the Samuel CLARK who appears in the 1830 GA census in the following counties: Henry, Jefferson, McIntosh, Elbert, and Montgomery. My Clark family apparently descends from Samuel CLARK who migrated with his family from Edgefield, SC. Any information on these Samuels would be appreciated. Tamie
Hi all, Can anyone tell me if the census records for 1830-1850 Elbert Co are online anywhere? I've been unable to find them. Does anyone in this group have access to birth, marriage, land records for Elbert Co? Appreciate any assistance. Cyndi in Baltimore
I found this is a refernce at the library years ago. It might be of interest. I am a McCurry descendant but of those who came from VA to NC to SC years before Angus immigrated. I have been on this list for a few months, but have not seen very much to respond. I am researching the McGarity line. My line came through Elbert county in the1790's and early 1800s. I did see where there was a connection to an Allgood somwhere in there that dated back to Elbert County. The McGarity that I came from was Abner McGarity. He married in Elbert County to Mary Scales. her family came from Elbert County during the same time period. if anone has information on the McGaritys or Scales, I would greatly like to hear from you. They all owned land around the Savannah River and close to what was known as Scales ferry. Thanks Steve Wills. steve.wills@mindspring.com
I am looking for information on the following person who lived in Elbert Co. Georgia: Simeon Henderson (b. ??) who married Bridget Carrol Heard (born June 17, 1795 in Elbert Co. GA). They were married in Elbert Co. GA on March 6, 1817 (I have a copy of their marriage license). Bridget's parents were Stephen Heard and Elizabeth Darden. Stephen Heard's parents were John Heard Jr. and Bridget Carroll. I think that it is possible that Simeon Henderson died in Elbert Co. because Bridgett moved to Mississippi. Simeon and Bridget had at least one son William H. Crawford Henderson who was born in 1825 in Georgia and died 1878 in Noxubee Co. MS. William Henderson married Sarah Thompson on Dec. 20, 1850. Sarah died 1869. Sarah's parents were Elbert Hartwell Thompson and Martha Scott
