Dear Gail: My GGrandmother, Florence Emma Jonnikin Nov. 29, 1872-Jan. 31, 1944 was the daughter of Charles A. Jonnikin Oct. 10, 1847. Charles married Jane V. Johnson May 1869. By all accounts, Jernigan was the parent surname. Many of the Jonnikin/Jernigan variations came from families that couldn't spell. This family was from the Edgefield-Saluda Co. area, SC. James Peter Dawson in Clay Co. in 1856......On their marriage record it is spelled "Jonakin" first and at the bottom of the page it looks as tho it is spelled "Jouringon".....Anyway, I have also seen in other places, it was spelled Jernigan.....Was wondering if you have Nancy in your line......I haven't begun researching this particular line as of yet, but plan to soon.....My goodness, there are so many lines to look for..LOL > Thanks.. > Gail
