There was a LEWIS MCLENDON in the 1830 census, however, he would be much older than the one listed below, I believe. Asa McClendon, age 24 (1826) born in Georgia; John McLendon, age 28 (1832) born in Misssissippi; Neadham McClendon, age 50 (1800) born in South Carolina; William McClendon, age 28 (1832) born in Mississippi; James McLendon, age 28 (1832) born in Georgia; Silas McLendon, age ____ Lewis McLendon, age 32 (1828) born in Georgia. He appeared on the census in 1860. 1860 Census Index - CD #318 Neadham McLendon Clay Co., Georgia, 969th District - Page #058 (Slave Schedule) SaundraB@aol.com Saundra Brown

    3. RE: Dill in Question The "Louisa" Dill in the group of families is actually a census takers version of "LEVISA" Dill. Levisa Dill was the was Levisa Lee Dill, daughter of Elias Lee and Judith Westbrook Lee, and widow of Silas Dill. Silas was a son of Job Dill. Levisa Lee Dill was born abt 1808/1810 and died after 1866. The last record I have for her in Clay Co GA is 13 Sept 1866 when she sells her Clay Co land. Her youngest son moved to Mississippi about this time and later moved on to Arkansas. Lindy

    3. From the Fort Gaines Sentinel 4 May 1900 [microfilm] p1 "Mrs. Rebecca McLean and her nephew and niece, Mr. Henry Simon and Miss Emma Checkni, of Jacksonville, Fla., are guests of the families of Mr. N. H. McLendon, and Mr. L. A. Duke and of Mrs. Sallie McLendon. We are pleased to learn that they will probable [sic] make the Fort their home." p1 "Mr. J. E. McLendon, a former resident of this county [Clay county], but recently of Memphis, Tenn., was here last week, arranging to move back to old Clay. He formerly owned a nice farm two miles this side of Bluffton, on the lower road, but left here a number of years ago to make his home in the West. We are glad to know that he and his family are coming back. While in the city last week he was the guest of his nephew, Mr. N. H. McLendon." Lindy
