Sometimes what we are not looking for is really what we need. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for the information you sent me. It give me another name to look for and concretes John even more in Early County history. If I can help you in any way, please let me know. Tammy Owen Bastrop CO, TX Owentk@aol.com
Robert, I spoke with the Billy Garrett family and his Grandaughter, Becky, was supposed to email you from S.C. I had copied off what info you had sent and gave it to her. I noticed in ancestry.com.........that Bruce Temples and his sister, Mary were emailing someone and said they had Cherokee Indian Roots........Have you heard this before? I quote "Larkin Temples was a full blooded Cherokee and was born about 1809 and died about 1866. He married Susie Clarke who was half Cherokee. Larkin was born in N.C. and moved to Pickens Co.,Ga when the Cherokees were rounded up and moved to oklahoma in 1838 or 39. His known issue are Patrick Temples who married mary Ann Stephens and Amanda Wayne Temples who married James Martin Stanfield. Larkin's father, Martin, and gf George were taken to Oklahoma." This was apparently sent to Bruce Temples from Jerome Tew......on Jan. 5, 2000 Joan Herndon in Early County, Ga.
I am hoping someone has a copy of the 1830 Early County Census with William Tiner information and can forward this information to me, with the name of the man below and above him, if possible. It's on 34-265 according to index. I received information on John Tyner 34-270 in index. I'm trying to determine if William could be John's brother or father. My William bought a parcel of land situate, lying and being in the (8) Eighth District of originally Early now Baker County, known & distinquished in the plan of said District by the number (7) seven containing two hundred and fifty (250) acres more or less, to have and to hold unto to him the said William Tiner his heirs and assigns forever in fee simple from Neil McLegan in 1848. Figure he was born about 1820. John Tyner was in Early County, GA on 1830 census with 1 male 20-29 1 male less than 5 1 female 20-29 2 females 5-9 2 females 0-4 1840 Early CO, GA census for John (William is not on census index): 1 male 40-50 1 male 0-4 1 male 5-10 1 male 10-15 1 female 40-50 1 female 0-5 2 females 5-10 2 females 10-15 1 female 15-20 So he has 3 sons and 6 daughters? or some daughter-in-laws or son-in-laws. 1850 in Walton CO, FL census: Tiner/Tyner John 52 SC, Ellender 45 TN, TINER, Mary 26 F Miss. Mary Fannel who married James? gone in 1860 James 24 M Farmer Georgia (gone from 1860) Sarah 17 F Georgia Mary 16 F Georgia (gone from 1860) John D. 13 M Georgia (gone from 1860) Adeline 11 F Georgia William 9 M Georgia (moved to Alabama as a man) Silas 7 M Georgia Bullard, Hanson 32 NC (gone from 1860 census but daughter Viola is) Elizabeth nee Tyner 22 GA (gone from 1860 census) Fannel, Mary married Tyner, James on 12 Mar 1825 in Early County, Georgia. Are these dates off or the ages on the census off? John and Ellender should not have two daughters named Mary so I figure one is James' wife. This is all leading to relatives of William Tyner, father of Lewis and William Wright Tiner of Early/Baker. Lewis and William can't decide where their father was born as they list NC on one census, TN on another and GA on another. Tammy Owen Bastrop CO, TX Owentk@aol.com
I just wanted to thank all that were able to respond with there research on "Southern Temples Lines". I made copies for Joyce Barnet Temple and our meeting with her tomorrow. This is our last meeting with her before she goes to Mississippi. Many of us researching these lines have discovered that much of the confusion comes from the many generations with multiple names such as, James, John, Jacob, and Frederick within a time line of 80 years! Many of these people were poor farmers and migrated with the wind. Still, they are our people and we want to know them! A genealogist once told me "How many of us look at a tombstone with its dates cut deeply into the surface and see only the dates? Few of us concentrate on what is important. The line in between." Their lives are the richness in us and the heritage left to us. This is a gift, not unlike what all of you shared with us recnetly. My hope is after tomorrow, we too have something to share with all concern. Respectfully, Robert Temples
Jackie, Not able to help you directly with your JOHNSON request. However, I noticed that you have HAIRE ancestors in Early Co.,GA. I have limited data on two HAIREs from Early Co; namely Auella(Averilla)HAIRE b. abt. 1819 in Early Co.,GA and Rebecca Matilda HAIRE b. 12/12/1849 in Early Co.,GA. Do you have any information on these HAIREs or their relatives? Would be happy to exchange any data we have in common. Is there anyone researching the Johnson family name in Georgia, especially in Early County, Ga. after 1840 until present. As far as I can tell my main Johnson line stayed in that area, some of the other lines may have moved on to areas unknown. Dear Fellow Researcher, It is with a heavy heart that we report to you the passing of George Allen Keith on Saturday last. My Mama, sister and I are grateful for your correspondence with him, for it was through the many hours spent at the computer that he received much enjoyment in the last few years. I am one of his daughters, Frances Keith. I share his passion for genealogical research, and would be most happy to correspond with you at any time at keithflk@AOL.com. Please remove his e-mail address from your files, and I look forward to hearing from you soon. Again, thankyou. His daughters, Frances L. Keith and Annelle Blanchett
Thank you George, I will look forward to hear from. Appreciate the effort! Good Morning, I have a book on Early county and it has some of the census records in it. I see in the 1830 Early county census, there is a James and a John Temples on page 95. In 1840, there is a Frederick and a James...also several more Temples. Also see some in 1860 and then a listing of a marriage of Frederick Temples and Mary E. Walker 4-8-1830, page 31. You may have this info, but if not, hope this helps. MC
Dear Researchers: Thank you all that responded to my first inquiry. To help clarify my first request, let me give you some back ground. I have what I believe is a Frederick Temple born c. 1720 from VA. He later show up in Anson Co., NC. He is suspected of being killed in the revolutionary War. It also appears that his three sons Frederick, John, and James also fought and after the war participated in the land right offers. We suspect it is the Frederick born c. 1750 that arrives in Early Co. c. 1790. Little is know about this family and any help is appreciated. Please forgive me, researching this from 2000 miles away hasn't helped! I am looking for any Temples to help make links. Robert Michael Temples
Robert, This data is correct, have searched for burial place of Thomas, we have visited cemetery where Anna Pearl is buried, she is Aunt of my wife, have not pursued the linage of Tom, Helen's father is buried in same cemetery, will go to Court House and check for more information on Tom or any other Temple, happy to forward to you. Data: Thomas H. Temples, born 1906, died April 01, 1954, married Anna Pearl Causey, born November 30, 1903, in Terrell County, GA. Died March 14, 1979, Blakely, Early County, GA, buried in City Cemetery. Good Luck George Stephens 1305 N Hicks Cir Conyers, GA 30012
iF YOU SUBSCRIBE TO GAEARLY-LIST THEN ALL MESSAGES WILL COME TO YOUR COMPUTER. JOAN HERNDON IN EARLY COUNTY, SORRY ABOUT THE INTRUSION.
mY MISTAKE. i DIDN'T read it right. Don't mind at all, just thought someone was contacting me by mistake. Now, I have it straight. Thanks for responding.
Looking for Halls, Dixons, and Driskill from Early County. Thanks for the information on Temples, though.
Thanks for your reply. I am actually the person looking for Halls, Dixons, or Driskills, not Temples. I must have hit the wrong button somehow on my computer, because I hve gotten several responses concerning Temples. Thanks anyway.
Don't know why your email came to FLCS01@aol.com, but I have no earthly idea concerning your post. I am searching for "Hall, Dixon, and /or Driskill" in Early County Georgia. But thanks anyway.
I,m sorry I don't know any Sheffields in Az. I know somewhere back in time my Davis line connects with Sheffields but have not researched that line. It would not surprise me to find some in Arizona. So many went there for their health at one time. Good luck ! Kathryn
Dear Joan: Good to hear from you again! This marriage mostlikely took place in Edgefield Co.,SC in 1819. I copied this to both GA & SC sites never knowing who may have knowledge of this event. I am, however, actively seeking information on descednats of Frederick Temple born c. 1750 who moved there in the 1790 land offerings.
