PAUL THAMES --SEND EMAIL ADDRESS TO JOAN HERNDON hherndon@alltel.net thanks jh
The Huttos and Sheffields lived near the Iver McMillan and John Emanuel families. I am related to both of them. Do you have any connection to these two families? Some of their members came to Polk (San Jacinto) County about 1871. Thanks, Roy Miller

You can check http://www.rootsweb.com/~gaearly/burials/cemetery.htm There is a link for many of the cemeteries which will lead to USGS (Geographic Names Information System ) On that page you have a couple of choices for maps pf the cemetery locations. You can print out the maps as well. Hi Joan, I would like to also contribute to Vol IV of Early Co History. I certainly believe my ancestors were raised there for over 20 years. They were there in 1830 census and again in 1850 census. I just am not sure when they arrived, probably several years before 1830. Count me in for Vol IV paul thames

Dear Joan, I'd like to contribute to the volume on Early Co. My family lived in Early Co. in the 19th century. They left Early Co. for Tyler Co., TX along with the Hutto, Collier, Sheffield, Milner families and others. Most of these early settlers are buried in Spurger, TX. I'd be glad to provide info. Hi Joan, Hopefully after my trip next week, I'll have more to add to my McCoy, Layton/Leighton and Tharp lines. I'll be glad to share what I have. Count me in! Patricia Parker I'm researching the following surnames: McCormick, McCoy, Parker, Tharp, Birch. Concentration is in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
It's according to what town or city you are coming from........If in Blakely come the Cedar springs(road going to Hwy 84) or Saffold......The Cedar Springs Cemetery is on the left if going South, just pass the crossroads in Cedar Springs.(about 18 miles South of Blakely, Ga.)......Cedar Springs is now almost just a cross roads.......used to be a thriving village in the 1800's.....If you get lost call 912-372-4213 and ask for Joan..........If in a small town, around and about-- ask for a map at the Chamber of Commerce..........Joan
Thank You Ida for your reply, I will report this coming Monday night to the Society as to how many and who wants to contribute to the next volume.......be patient......send any material to Joan Herndon==P.O. Box 325--Cedar Springs, Ga. 31732----Send it as completed as possible, no hurry.......Joan
Bethel Cemetery is on Hwy 273 East of Cedar Springs, about 3 or 4 miles on the left. Sowhatchee Cemetery is off the Cedar Springs Hwy going South about 4 miles out of Blakely, turn right and then left.......The sign will direct you to Zion Freewill Church. follow those signs...... The Cedar Springs Cemetery is straight on pass the crossroads in Cedar Springs going South about 18 miles from Blakely.............All of these cemeteries are rural. Pick up a map at the Chamber of Commerce in Blakely at 51 Court Square.
Joan, Will be glad to give you what I have on the Mock family. Also have some on the White's.'' Carol Mock McKinney
Joan, I don't have a lot of information but will be willing to contribute my info on the Kennedy/Canady family of Early Co. in the 1830s. Ida (Kirkland) Boyce 5020 Atha Circle, SW Loganville, GA 30052
Hello Joan, think I just sent in a blank EMail. wanted to say that I have done research on many lines in Early Co GA. Researching the Page, Jernigan, Cowart, Ellis, Duke, Wall, Widner, Mock, Worsley, among many others in the Clay, Early, Miller, Randolph, Calhoun Counties since 1970. Would be glad to contribute what I could on any of these families. Naomi
Hi Everyone, In addition to the location of Cedar Springs Cemetery (which someone emailed about yesterday), can someone tell me the exact locations of Bethel and Sowatchee Cemeteries. I was assuming I'd be able to find them with no trouble when I'm in Early County next week, but....you know what they say about assuming anything! :) Thanks to everyone for your help recently.....I appreciate it very much! Patricia Parker I'm researching the following surnames: McCormick, McCoy, Parker, Tharp, Birch. Concentration is in Florida, Georgia and Alabama.
Hi List, I am looking for information on the Rigdon family that lived In Early County for a short time, moving to Crawford County between 1820 and 1830. My gg-grandfather was Stephen Rigdon, born in Early County in 1825/1825. (His petition for Civil War pension states 1820, but grave says 1825). His father was possibly Stephen as well, and mother was Sarah.... I have land records that show land transferring to an Amy Rigdon m. Glisson Brinkley in Crawford County, followed by a listing with my younger Stephen, but I have been unable to connect the two. Any help would be appreciated. Has anyone on the list attempted to read the 1820 Early county census? Did you have any luck?? I couldn't read a single name on it. Thanks in advance, Becki piscesangel28@aol.com
