    3. Sent: Thurs 8 Feb 2001 Greetings from Africa I discovered the existence of Early County about a month ago while browsing the internet. Being an EARLY myself, I was naturally intrigued. I'd like to find out something of the history of the county and its founder, Governor Peter EARLY. Can anyone suggest an on-line source of information? There's little chance of my finding suitable reference books in this neck of the woods. Best wishes Frank Early. South Africa. franklyn@icon.co.za

    3. The only name I found in the tomb index was Iver McMillan---born Jan. 11, 1791 and died 12/09/1858----in the Timmons Cemetery near or in Arlington, Ga. Some of that area is Early co. and some of it is Calhoun County. You might even know......Beside Iver McMillan is Elizabeth born May 24, 1794 and Died 10/09/1855------Gheez these people were of the old or original folks in this county, huh? Sara Broadwater Taylor??? in Montgomery also researchers Iver McMillan, Are you two in touch??? IT always helps to find others that are researching the same folks.. Joan Herndon in Cedar Springs, Ga. 31732--- P.O. Box 325 Just in case----- another McMillan was listed named Delila B. born 12/03/1835--died 04/29/1900---wife of George W. Mayes.......

    3. The other day my computer crashed and I lost some emails... I know I placed a note to the board some time ago about looking for any information on James Jasper Cannon in Early County.. But I think I am missing some in between. The James Jasper Cannon that I am looking for is the father of Arthur Cannon who married Susie Mock. Carol by any chance do you have any information on Arthur's father's family. I know when and where James Jasper was born and where he died and who he married and all his children. Being My grandfather was one of his sons, Stephen Cannon, and I know there is family still in Blakely, but none of them that I have talked to can remember about Jasper Cannon's parents or brothers and sisters. If I have missed anyone else asking about him and any of this sounds like something they may know I cant wait to hear from you. 3. Carol: My CANNON lineage starts with Archibald CANNON, son of John and "Sary" (?) CANNON of North Carolina. Archibald was born about 1745 in Pitt County, NC. He married Mary JORDAN abt. 1775 in NC and eight children were born. I show the purchased 200 acres in Bulloch county, GA January 20, 1818. The Will of Archibald was dated Nov. 14, 1819 and filed May 1, 1920. None of his children were named Wiley CANNON and I do not have a file on any of the CANNON's that may have lived in Early County, GA. You did not give a date in your query but Bulloch County might be a place to check after the early 1800's. Have a good day.
