    3. From the Fort Gaines Sentinel 4 May 1900 [microfilm] p1 "Mrs. Rebecca McLean and her nephew and niece, Mr. Henry Simon and Miss Emma Checkni, of Jacksonville, Fla., are guests of the families of Mr. N. H. McLendon, and Mr. L. A. Duke and of Mrs. Sallie McLendon. We are pleased to learn that they will probable [sic] make the Fort their home." p1 "Mr. J. E. McLendon, a former resident of this county [Clay county], but recently of Memphis, Tenn., was here last week, arranging to move back to old Clay. He formerly owned a nice farm two miles this side of Bluffton, on the lower road, but left here a number of years ago to make his home in the West. We are glad to know that he and his family are coming back. While in the city last week he was the guest of his nephew, Mr. N. H. McLendon." Lindy

    2. Regarding Seaborn McClendon: Can someone clarify the spelling: McClendon vs. McLendon? And I would like to assume that Seaborn McClendon, father of Rennie Mae McClendon, is the same as Seaborn Augustus McLendon, the judge, but is there enough evidence?

    2. That was great. Didn't know Harriett's maiden name (wife of Neadham) was Jordan. That would make since as the Jordans are intertwined with the Tyner family and two Tiner boys came here to Bastrop County, with Jordan's, Richardson's, Kell(e)ys and Hayslips. Calk State of Georgia, County of Clay. In person came before me an officer of said state authorized to administer oaths, Henry J. Deponent says that he knew well Oliver Pedro McLendon who was reared in this county and left here about the year 1885 and removed to the state of Texas going with his two sisters to that state. Deponent knew well the father of the said Oliver Pedro McLendon namely: Seaborn A. McLendon. Deponent says that he knew the grandfather of the said Oliver Pedro McLendon who was Needham McLendon. The said Seaborn A. McLendon was a lieutenant in the Civil War and fought on the side of the South. Soon after the Civil War the said Seaborn A. McLendon went with his wife and four children to Brazil with the intention of living in that country but not being able to use the Portguese language he became dissatisfied and came back to the United States and to Clay County, Georgia in a few months. I have heard Mr. and Mrs. Seaborn McLendon say a number of times that their son Oliver Pedro McLendon was born on the ship which was bringing them back to the United States. I knew well Mrs. James Bell who was a sister of the said Oliver Pedro McLendon, older than he and who died in this county just a few years ago. Deponent further says that Seaborn A. McLendon was a lawyer who practised at the Fort Gaines, Georgia bar for a long number of years and who died in 1892. Deponent futher says that the said Seaborn A. McLendon was a citizen of the United States as was his father Needham A. McLendon and I know that Oliver Pedro McLendon was a citizen of the state of Georgia from the time of his birth until he left this state about the year 1885. Deponent further swears that he knows that the said Oliver Pedro McLendon comes from a long line of respected forbears who were all citizens and natives of this state and deponent further states that he has known the said Oliver Pedro McLendon from the time he was a month old to the time he left to go to the state of Texas. /S/ Henry J. Levisa Dill was the was Levisa Lee Dill, daughter of Elias Lee and Judith Westbrook Lee, and widow of Silas Dill. Silas was a son of Job Dill. Levisa Lee Dill was born abt 1808/1810 and died after 1866. The last record I have for her in Clay Co GA is 13 Sept 1866 when she sells her Clay Co land. 3. No, Volume III is being processed for publication--- but we may have Volume IV in the making, we have received a goodly response for the makings of another volume ,but it will not be this year..........All of you keep on perfecting your material that you want put in Volume IV.........It will come down the line sooner or later........and now the Early County Society owns it's own pagemaker and it will speed up the process greatly on the next volume......... We will have to see how well Volume III is received and get it off the ground and mailed out to subscribers before we can even think about the next volume. Keep these email address in your files nitaday@alltel.net and hherndon@alltel.net and do not send material to the Early County Library(Maddox Memorial Library) unless notifield to do so........Thanks very Much, Joan Herndon in Early County, Ga.

I checked my database and could not ind a Stephen Thomas Rigdon, but I did find a Thomas Sylvester Rigdon born around 1824. http://www.geocities.com/heartland/village/9340 _______________________________________________________________________ $1 million in prizes! 20 daily instant winners. Blakely, GA 31723, Edited by Mary Grist Whitehead. On page 255, under Courthouse Records, "Marks_Brands" Clerk's Office, 1822-1831.* *This book contains Marks and Brands recorded through the year 1848, although the title states 1822-1831. Since no stock laws were in existence at this time, a livestock owner found it expedient to record his brand or mark at the courthouse. The verbal descriptionsare ofter illustrated with a drawing. The original is on file at the Clerk's Office, Early County Courthouse. Name Date Page No. Page, Josiah 1-2-1838 41 Hope this helps. Marilyn Smith

    1. Re: [GAEARLY-L] 1830 Census for Early County
    2. i am looking for any information on Rigdons in Early County in the period of 1820-1829. THe only information I have is that my gg-grandfather Stephen Thomas Rigdon was supposed to have been born in Early County between 1820-1825. From what I could see there were no Rigdons listed in 1820 in the census and I was wondering about the 1830 census. There is a Stephen Rigdon in Crawford County in 1830, who I think might possibly be his father, but I have nothing to prove it, so they might have still been in Early County. My Stephen Thomas Rigdon shows up in Crawford County in the 1850 census. Becki

    2. Does anyone have an 1830 Early census or even an index of that census that would check for a Josiah Page for me (would have been about 25 years old)? I know he was married there in 1837 (age 32), but by 1840 he was in Randolph. It would sure help me track the family movements if I knew about what time he got to Early. Thanks.
