    2. June
    3. Hi, I am June. Your query caught my eye. I am always interested in Dodge Co. I looked up some info on the families out of the Tad Evans books. A newspaper clipping from July 19 1906 states: SON IN LAW SHOOTS HIS FATHER IN LAW Helena, Ga. July 18 About 8 o'clock this morning at Mathew's mill, one mile from this city, a white man named Cannon was shot and instantly killed by his son in law, a boy about 18 years old, named Alligood. Alligood and Charlie Cannon, a son of the dead man, had a fight yesterday and it is said that the elder Cannon went to the mill this morning for the purpose of taking up the quarrel and a row resulted, Alligood shooting Cannon while Cannon was advancing on him with a knife. Alligood claims self defense, and telephoned the sheriff to come after him and he is now in custody. He will be held until the coroner's investigation is learned, which will probably be this afternoon. the young man referred to in the above dispatch is Julian Alligood, a son of Mr. J. J. Alligood, who formerly resided in the Isham Spring neighborhood. ******************* Here is another one from Thursday Sept 26 1918: DEATH OF MISS MAY ALLIGOOD Miss May Alligood, the thirteen year old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J.J.Alligood Jr. of near Friendship, died in Macon Sanitarium Wed afternoon, following an operation for appendicitis that was performed Sunday. The body will be interred at Cochran this, Thursday, afternoon. The bereaved parents have the deepest sympathy of a large circle of friends in their sorrow. ************************* Also here is one that may be of the folks you are looking for. Thursday Aug 6 1908 MARRIED Mr. Eugene Maddox and Miss Belle Cannon were married at the home of Rev. George W. Evans Sunday evening. ***************************** GOSSETT-ALLIGOOD Miss Flossie Mae Gossett and Mr. J.J. Alligood were united in marriage Saturday afternoon of last week in the office of Ordinary J.F. Coleman at the court house, Judge Coleman performing the ceremony. the bride gave her age as nineteen, and the groom is said to be about 65. Mr. Alligood was formerly a citizen of this county for many years, but is said to have been recently residing in Macon. That city is also said to be the home of his bride. After spending Sunday and Monday with his relatives in Dodge, they returned to Macon Tuesday morning. **************** On Thursday April 19 1928 Mr. Julius Alligood was a pallbearer for the funeral of Mr. S. Raymond Andrews (it doesn't say they were related). ******************* Thursday May 3 1928 ALLIGOOD-PARKERSON Miss Mattie Lee Alligood and Mr. W.L. Parkerson, Sr. both of Eastman, Route 8, were united in marriage Sunday at the home of Rev. J.B. Evans, he officiating. The bride is a daughter of Mr. Julius Alligood and is 19 years old. The gentleman is a prominent farmer and is 61 years old. ************************ Thursday Sept 20 1928 ALLIGOOD - ROGERS Miss Lillie Bell (the spelling has no e) Alligood and Mr. Eugene Rogers were united in marriage Saturday afternoon in the office of the ordinary at the court house, the ceremony being performed by Rev. R.G.P. McKinnon. The bride is the daughter of Mr. Julius Alligood and the twin sister of Mrs. W.L. Parkerson, Sr. The groom is the son of Mr. John Rogers. *************** This is all I found. Hope it helps you. After that they are not mentioned anywhere in the county. The Parkersons marriage should be easy to follow because they are quite prominent in Dodge Co even today. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ya.2ADI/516.1.1.1.2 Message Board Post: Any information on Irene Cannon who married Julius Alligood. Julius shot her father and killed him around 1906 and I have no Cannon information since then. I think she had a uncle named Ben Cannon. Cannon & Alligood children were Lillie Belle & Mamie L ee (twins), Essie P erle, James Etheridge, Walter Lamar, and Lillian. Julius Alligood was 18 yrs. old at the time of the murder and did some time for the shooting. I found the family in the 1920 censes but cannot find out any Cannon info. Any help will be appreciated. ==== GADODGE Mailing List ==== To post messages to the Dodge County, GA discussion list, send them to GADODGE-L@rootsweb.com ============================== To join Ancestry.com and access our 1.2 billion online genealogy records, go to: http://www.ancestry.com/rd/redir.asp?targetid=571&sourceid=1237
