    2. Message Board Post: Thanks Bill. I was looking for John Daniel, a descendant of my mother, Louise Daniel Moore. He was supposedly a soldier in the Revolutionary War. Again, thanks for your help! Good Morning Leah: John Daniel was indeed a soldier in the Rev War. John Daniel (1760-1830)md Rebecca Stephens. John's father Aaron Daniel (Ensign) who married Elizabeth (Betsey) Whitfield and John's brother Aaron Jr are also recognized as Rev war soldiers. All fought in Capt Moses Pearson's brigade. As a descendent of John (and Aaron) you are entitled to membership in the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution. I joined the DAR on John Daniel and I also have the papers of others from Dodge Co. who have joined on Aaron, Sr. As a descendent of Aaron, you would also be descended from Matthew Whitfield who married Elizabeth Goodman. The DAR has recognized both this Matthew and his brother Luke as soldiers in the Rev war. Although, there is some debate on whether this information is correct. As Luke, Sr. had two sons named Matthew and Luke (and Luke Sr's will was probated before his supposed service) it seems more likely that it is the sons who served. Bob Burton has done quite a lot of documented research on this. You can find his posts on Genforum in the Whitfield and Daniel. Per the book History of the Old Cheraws, page 158-161. "John Daniel was a Revolutionary soldier serving in the SC Militia under Captain Moses Pearson and Colonel Marion in 1782. Shortly after the Revolution, he moved from the Cheraw community first to Burke Co., GA, and eventually to Pulaski Co., GA.(now Dodge Co.), where he bought a large plantation on the Ocmulgee River consisting of several thousand acres. On the 22nd of June, the Provincial Congress Resolved, "That the following gentlemen be added to the Committee of Observation for the Parish of St. David, viz,----Aaron Daniel". [1775]. "The following commissions were made out, signed and dated as here entered, for officers in Col. Powell's Regiment of Militia, St. David's Parish: Capt. Abel Kolb-25th Sept., 1775. Ensign Aaron Daniel-25th Sept., 1775" You can also find information: Stub entries to Indents for Rev.
