I didn't expect so many replies so quickly, but I'm a HE, not a she. LOL :-) One of the posts mentioned using obituaries. That has been a very valuable source of information to me for my many "cousins" here in south Georgia. It has helped fill in some missing information, but at times it has added to the confusion! Does anyone know where I can find the Dodge County newspaper on microfilm so that maybe I could search for his obit? Thanks to all! Skeeter Parker Nashville, Georgia

However I do have some good information on John Daniel Nash, he was born June 17, 1865 in Dodge County and died April 20, 1931. He was married to Mary Frances Clark in Dodge County on November 23, 1892. I have a wedding day photo of them. Mary Frances was a sister-in-law of Annie Harwell Clark, my great-grandmother's sister. Annie and Dr. John Benjamin Clark had 3 children all first cousins of my grandfather. Our cousin Mary C. Clark being close to all of us and she gave me most of her family photos. My thought is that he was Jasper's son. In the 1870 census I see that the only John D. Nash in his age range is listed as living in Montgomery County with his parents Jasper and Margaret. I have another photo of him as well with Dr. Clark at whose drugstore he worked. God bless, Beth

    1. Jennings Futch in Georgia prior to 8 Feb 1869

Surnames: Futch, Harrell, Rountree Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ya.2ADI/819 Message Board Post: Jennings Futch came to Georgia from Barnwell County, SC prior to 8 Feb. 1869. The best way to learn when he arrived in Telfair County would be to check the land and property records to learn the date of purchase and see if his former address is S.C. or another County in Georgia prior to the 1870 Census information. In checking a booklet that I have on hand[ Carl and Ardath Troyer have researched this line and furnished me with a copy of their Booklet, Descendants of Jennings Futch and Descendants of David Futch, July 26, 1992.] In checking in that book the earliest piece of property is not mentioned so that source of information has not to date been researched to find what date the family arrived in Telfair County, GA. I am going by the date of Jennings Futch's birth as he was born in Telfair County, GA 8 Feb. 1869. Mary Caroline was born before Jennings but her date of birth is not certain. On the 1880 census her birthplace is listed as S.C. and on the 1870 census her birthplace is listed as GA. According to the information in this book, Clara M. Futch, child born before Mary Caroline, was born in S.C. in 1858. Jennings was at war during the Civil War so no babies may have been born due to his being away during those war years. No children are listed in between Clara M. Futch and Mary Caroline. Though babies could have been born and could have died early while the family was still in S.C. My guess is that the family came to Georgia a few years after the Civil War. According to a newspaper article about Jennings Futch's military serevice when the Wilcox Rifles Chapter U.D.C. of Rochelle marked his grave, the family came to Georgia in about 1869. My suggestion to anyone wanting to know a more approximate date would be to check for property records. Films can be rented through the L.D.S. Wish I had the time but I can't take on any additional research projects at this time. Maybe someday in the future if no one else has by that time. Gloria, GGGranddaughter of Jennings Fleetwood Futch. Got photos of his tombstone, he is buried near my GGrandmother and her family, William Bartlett Harrell family. Also have a great photo of Jennings Fleetwood Futch which shows him in his old age. Have some of Clara and others but my father's sister has yet after many years made any photos for me of my GGrandmother and her husband William Bartlet Harrell, maybe someday I can still hope.

Much of the information found in this book comes from our personal family bibles, from interrviews with family members no longer living, and from a multitude of compiled records from family documents. The family photos should not be posted on line as they too are the property of the family and I have not been given permission to post these items online so if anyone who is a member of the Futch family or a descendant of the Futch family wants to contact me privately I will be happy to share the family information provided they promise not to post the same on a public location on the internet or to send the same to any organization.
