    3. When I posted the message about the photos that Larry Childs had taken of the Bowers Cemetery, I wasn't aware of the recent announcement about the NEW Dodge County Cemetery book. (I should have been reading the Dodge County List more carefully!) I always urge everyone to support the Genealogical Societies they are the ones who have been working all these years! They were doing their work long before the Internet was possible. Their cemetery surveys have preserved so much information for all of us over the years! (And putting out a cemetery book involves lots of hours and hard, hot, dusty work by many individuals) We are all partners in this endeavor to preserve family history -- so pass along the information about this cemetery book to your friends -- and especially to local libraries. Sometimes they just need a request from an individual for them to consider purchasing it to add to their Georgia collection. So no matter where you live, promote Georgia books! ===================== The Dodge County Cemetery book reprints have just arrived. If you are interested, please go to the Wiregrass Genealogy Society web-site (below) to find out how to purchase a copy. http://www.rootsweb.com/~gawgs/ Joy Carroll Wiregrass Genealogy Society Secretary

    3. The first link is the "overview" of the cemetery. Beneath that one are the actual tombstones -- but this is NOT ALL of the tombstones. Sorry if I gave the impression that the entire cemetery was done. Larry did a few of these as he was searching for his own family. It would be wonderful if we had a text listing of this entire cemetery. Does anyone know of one? I'd be happy to start a listing if anyone sent me the names and dates of some people that are buried there. Meanwhile, I am very grateful to Larry Childs who took these photos and shared them. At least we have these on-line! If anyone has photos of tombstones, it would be wonderful to get them on-line. 3. Bowers Cemetery is located in Empire, Dodge County, Georgia. Coming from Macon, take Hwy 23 headed south. Empire is just a few miles below Cochran (located in Bleckley County). After you pass Cochran (either through town or on the bypass), turn left at the second flashing caution light. Right before the railroad tracks, turn right. Follow the signs to Bowers Cemetery.
