Surnames: Hawkins Kidd Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/Ya.2ADI/861 Message Board Post: Looking for the parents of John W Hawkins. John Hawkins was born in October 1868. He married Fannie Kidd on January 6th, 1897 in Bibb County, Georgia. In 1900 John and Fannie were living in Bibb County. In 1920 they were living in Dodge County, Georgia. Any info on this family would be greatly appreciated.
Eula Kirkus was born in Dodge Co. after 1900 and married Thomas Oby Carter on May 11, 1918. Obie was born March 23, 1897 in Jackson, GA and was a veteran of World War I. He completed his draft card on June 5, 1918, which states that he was tall, of medium build and had light blue eyes and light hair.He was farming as a sharecropper for Mrs. A. R. Carter and that time and asked to be exempted from duty as he had a dependent widowed mother and wife. It would appear that Oby and Eula were divorced as the 1941 and 1946 obituaries of her parents give her name as being Mrs. F. M. Copeland. Eula Copeland was living in Jacksonville, FL during those years. Obie Carter died Feb. 10, 1977 in the Veterans hospital in Dublin, Laurens Co. GA. He was survived by one son, Brenice Carter, of route six Eastman and one daughter, Gwendolyn Carter Wright, of Salinas, CA. We do not know if Eula was the mother of these children as no records have been found to date. Obie was buried in the Zion Hope Cemetery near Eastman. Does anyone know anything else about Eula Kirkus Carter Copeland? Or these childred. Any help will be appreciated.
