Harrell Thursday, October 7, 1920 from the Times-Journal Dodge Co., GA. as extracted to Dodge County Newspaper Clippings Vol IV (1920-1928) by Tad Evans. DEATH OF AN OLD AND PROMINENT CITIZEN The many friends and relatives of Mr. Wright Harrell, of near Rhine, were bowed with grief at the news of his death Tuesday, September 28th, at two-0'clock. He was 81 years old his last birthday, jul 22, his wife being buried at the age of 68 on November 21st, the previous year. The funeral services were conducted at the home of Mr. Lester Harrell by Rev. Murrell Williamson, the interment taking place at the old Harrell cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs. J. B. Walker, John Ragan, Ike Harrell, Virgie Myers, Mike burch and Ace Harrell. Mr Harrell was born and reared in Dodge County and was one of the wealthest and most prominent citizens. He was a useful man to his community and will be missed by many. He is survived by children Children, seven sons and three daughters. The sons Messrs. John, Alex, Will, George, Moses, Clayton and Perry Harrell. The daughters are Mrs. Nettie Burnham, Mrs. Alice Burnham, and Mrs. I. N. Bowen, all residing near rhine. There were forty-seven grandchildren and twenty-four great-grandchildren. Millie Ann Harrell (1841 - 1921) (dau of Wm Holt Harrell. Obituary of Millie Ann Harrell Thursday, January 6, 1922, Times-Journal Dodge County, GA. From the book "Dodge County Newspaper Clippings, Vol IV (1920-1928)"; Published by Tad Evans, Savannah, GA. May 21, 1992. MRS. BILL JOINER Mrs. Bill Joiner, better known to her friends and acquaintances as Mrs. Millie Ann Rogers, died at her home on Route Three on Friday night last of infirmities of old age. Mrs. Joiner being 83 years olds at the time of her death. Interment took place in the old Levi Harrell cemetery Saturday, Rev. R. G. P. McKinnon conducting the funeral services. Mrs. Joiner was the last member of a large family of brothers and sisters, there originally having been seven of the brothers, viz: John, Lovett and Henley Harrell, who were killed in the civil war, Wright W., Charles, William and Levi. Her first husband, Thomas Burnham, was also killed in the civil war. She afterwards married Cullen Rogers, and to this union were born the following children: Lovett, Bill and Cullen Rogers, Mrs. Warren Nixon, Mrs. Needham Joiner and Mrs. Jennie Fielder, all of whom survive. After the death of Mr. Rogers she was married to Bill Joiner, who also proceded her to the grave. Mrs. Joiner was a member of Benevolence Methodist Church. Following Harrells are children of Levi Holt Harrell (1832-1911) Elizabeth Daniel Harrell (1868 - 1944) William Lewis Harrell (1876 - 1916) John Wilson Harrell (1878 - 1957) Charles Lester Harrell (1881 - 1962) Levi Hendley Harrell (1886 - 1920) George Washington Matthew Luke (Son of George Washington Luke and husband of Elizabeth Daniel Harrell) Charles Morgan Rogers (1822 - ) (father of James Cullen Rogers. He mar Edith Ann Peacock) Edith Ann Peacock (1828 - 1880) (wife of Charles Morgan Rogers and dau of Cullen and Mary (Polly) (Allen) Peacock) I'm not sure on the next two I know they are probably husband and wife as the were buried beside each other. Not sure if Mary Elizabeth is a dau of Charles Morgan and Edith Ann??????? Mary Elizabeth Rogers (1868-1928) William Henry Nixon (1856-1932) Many more graves in this cemetery this is about all I have for now... Stay tune for photo!!!! Now for some questions!?!?!?! These people are just ones I want to know about. May or may not be buried in this Cemetery.. Will find out next visit.. There is a dau mentioned as Mrs Warren Nixon in the obit of Millie Ann Harrell (see above). Dont know the name of this dau. Also Millie Ann's 3d husband was Wm Joiner and Millie Ann had a dau, Julia Ann Rogers, who supposedly married Needham Joiner. I also have, in my tree, a James Nixon who mar. Mary Burnham. Mary was the sister of Ada Beatrice Burnham, 2d wife of Levi Hendley Harrell. Parents were Miles A. and Rebecca (Coffee) Burnham. Also a R. F. Nixon mar. Nancy Jones, dau of Charles Jackson and Millie Ann (Seay) Jones. Charles Jackson goes back to William B. and Nancy Ann (Raffield) Jones... Also Annie Lou Nixon mar. Hardy Morgan Harrell, son of Asa Bryant and Eliza (Burch) Harrell Anyone know of any connections between these Nixon or between these Joiners????? Bill Harrell
