    3. Becky, my name is Sue Forrester and I live in Dade County. When you ask for "blanks to be filled in" are you referring to County History, Name Origin and Societies? You do have a couple of things that need correcting. The state required birth and death records beginning in 1919. And Dade Co did have several filed beginning with 1919 forward. However, it wasn't until 1927 that the county started keeping a copy of the certificates that were filed with the state. In Dade County birth and death records are kept in the Office of Probate. Dade County had two courthouse fires. The first was in April 1853 and the second one was 21 November 1863. I can document both of those. There may have been a contained fire ca 1895 but I have not been able to find any information regarding it. Marriage records began in 1866. Land Records began in April 1853. A number of deeds that had been recorded prior to the April 1853 fire were re-recorded afterward the fire. Land records survived the 1863 fire. We have two probate books (one dated from 1853 and the other dated from 1855) that survived the 1863 fire. None before 1853 survived. There are NO loose probate papers until ca 1900. I'm not sure what court records you are taking about that began in 1854. Vital records: refer to the above birth and death records and they are located in the Probate Office. The Probate Office is located in the Justice Building and I do not know their mailing PO Box number. However, the one telephone number listed goes into this office. The deeds are located in the Clerk of Superior Court Office which is in the old courthouse building. Again, I do not know the mailing PO box number. We do have an active Dade County Historical Society. Their address is PO Box 512, Trenton, GA 30752. There is a small informal group who meets to share genealogy info. We have no officers and as I said it is very informal. Delta Genealogical Society which is based out of the Rossville Public Library (Walker Co) is a tri-state organization covering northwest GA, southeast TN and northeast AL. Their address is 504 McFarland Ave., Rossville, GA 30741. They publish a journal three times a year. I can give you the name origin and if you will tell me what you want in the nature of county history, I can do that also.
