My grand father also worked at the Durham Mines from about 1910 to 1920. His name was L.O. WILLIAMS. He married my grandmother while there (she was a ROWLAND). He was either a foreman, or he ran the commissary store. I have conflicting family stories. They lived in Durham and later moved to Chattanooga Valley on the rail line from Durham to the Chickamauga Coke ovens on the Walker Co. side of Lookout Mtn. Has there been any research done about the mines? I would dearly love to have copies of any pictures, documents, etc. from the mines. Thank you.
