Karen, Mission Ridge Cemetery is in Walker County GA not Dade. I don't know where in Chattanooga you are as I could give you directions from your area. However, starting at a central point of Rossville Blvd and I-24... travel south on Rossville Blvd crossing into GA in the middle of the city of Rossville; get in the right lane. When you come to where Rossville separates (the Rossville Post Office is at the end of Rossville Blvd) bear to the right traveling onto McFarland Ave. Travel south on McFarland Ave for about 4 miles. When you come to the intersection of McFarland Ave and Highway 2, cross over Highway 2. At the next travel light, turn right onto Mission Ridge Rd. Continue south on Mission Ridge Rd maybe 3/4 miles. Watch for a large Baptist Church on the right side of the road. Mission Ridge Cemetery is at this church. Julia A. Schaich, John Schaich, and Lawrence M. Dunwoody are buried there. There tombstones read: Julia A. Schaich, 15 May 1868 - 28 Feb 1946 John Schaich 6 Jan 1860 - 3 Sep 1923 Lawrence M. Dunwoody 10 Jan 1910 - 17 Mar 1946 Ga Pvt 1 Cl. Engineer There are some other Schiachs buried there and their stones read: Melterin Pauling 1 Sept 1890 - 8 Mar 1912 Daughter of John & Julia Schiachs, From Mother Arms to Arms of Jesus Grady Schiachs 17 Mar 1900 - 24 Dec 1914 Son of John & Julia Schiachs Infant Schiachs 10 June 1893 - 19 June 1893 Daughter of John &Julia Schiachs Infant Schiachs 1 Jan 1896 - 1 June 1896 Son of John & Julia Schiachs Infant Schiachs 23 Dec 1898 - 23 Dec 1898 Dughter of John & Julia Schiachs These last graves do not appear to be with the parents and you will probably have to seach for them. The Cemetery is not that large so they shouldn't be hard to find. Have you checked for obits in the Chattanooga paper? You can go to the index online by typing www.lib.chattanooga.gov Click on the community page, then on the obituary page. When the next page opens, go to the bottom of the page and click on data base. When the search page opens, type in last name first and be sure to set the search on "browse". These names are typed into the data base exactly as they appeared in the paper. If you put your search on browse of the Schaich data base you can browse through all of that surname. If you do find one, you will then have to go to the 3rd floor of the Chattanooga/Hamilton County Library to pull the newspaper microfilm in order to read the full obituary or get a copy. OR you can order by mail. Ordering instructions are given. Beverly, Read your email and went to the site. found several obituaries I need. However, the cost is a bit steep for a simple obit copy ($11.00 each). I really appreciate your reference though as it was still a big help.
