My Hawkins is actually my husband's line but am researching it as several families wound up in Fannin Co. TX and married into each other's families. I am having a hard time on the Hawkins line and will give you what I have. Elijah Jacob Hawkins b. 25 Oct 1871 AR d. 6 Jan 1919 TX married Elizabeth Agnes Smart b. 9 May 1875 AL. Elizabeth's mother and siblings are listed on the 1850 census for Jackson Co. AL which is "just across the line from Dade Co. GA, I think". In the 1880 census for Terre Noire twnshp, Clark Co. AR, Elijah J. Hawkins and sister Henrietta age 11 are listed living in the house of a William H. Hart, wife, Sarah and 2 younger Hart children. Elijah and sister are listed as step children. Birthplace for Elijah's father is given as SC and mother as AL. On Elijah's death cert. his father is listed as being Berry Hawkins b. AR and mother as Dora born in AR. Since the death cert. was completed by a son of Elijah's, I don't believe he actually knew for sure and used Arkansas as birth place for both of Elijah's parents as that was the only place he knew. As is appears as if Elijah and Henrietta were raised by a step father, then likelyhood of prior dates/names/places being passed on to grandchildren is not too good. Would LOVE to be able to make some connection. I have been trying "forever" to locate Elijah's Hawkins relations. Vollie Berry and Elijah Steward are two of his sons and the names Berry and Steward were supposedly family names. Sonja
