Sorry to be so long in posting this... I knew I had the notice that was in the Dade County newspaper regarding the death of Thomas Payne, Sr... it was just a matter of finding it. November 27, 1896: Thomas Payne Sr an old and highly respected citizen of this county died at his home near the Alabama line early Tuesday morning. Mr. Payne has been a life-long worker in the Methodist Church and was noted for the fevency of his worship. The burial occured in the family burying ground. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. R. Snider. Sorry... although we have searched, this family burying ground has not been found. There may never have been any tombstones erected and the cemetery destoyed without anyone really knowing it was there. Sue Forrester
