Earleene, I'm sure you have probably said in the past... but don't remember if you did. But can you give me the dates Elsie Cuzzort lived so I would know about where to check? However, many deeds were re-recorded or were recorded very late so we have a lot prior to the 1853 date going back into the 1840's. There are three exceptions to this: Deed books A, B, and E. Those are missing. > > The deeds survived the Nov 1863 fire. > > Our marriage records begin in 1866 with a few recorded late from 1865 and one from 1863. > > Only two old probate books survived the Nov 1863 fire. There are no "loose" probate records prior to 1895. It was said the courthouse burned again in 1895 but this can't be true as it was torn down in 1925 to make way for the one we now use. There could have been a "contained" fire in the Ordinary Office (now Probate) which could account for the loss of the probate records prior to 1895. > > I have recorded every burial site in Dade County that we can locate. Some burials sites have no tombstones what-so-ever. I have not put them on any web site but will start putting them on the Dade County Historical Society's site as soon as we have it up and running... hopefully before too much longer. > > Along with cemetery information will be book b marriage records; obits and other courthouse records.
