Was a private in Company B 26th GA Cavalry for 18 months. Discharged Jun 1864 at Kingston GA. Moved to AL in 1867, married around 1876 to Eliza (Liza) J Smith (b 10 May 1859 d 1935) in Blount Co. AL. They had fice sons, Robert Lee 1879-1955, Edward Luther 1881-1947, Jack 1888-1969, Thomas Absalom (Ab) 1890-1970 and Jessie 1903-1903. Anyone with information about the Payne or Smith family would be greatly appreciated.
