    1. [GADADE] Murray/Satterwhite & Mason/Irwin
    2. Sarah, I've been transcribing Dade County marriage book B and am well past 1871. I also have the Delta publication which you mentioned but did not find George E. Murray and Susan Elizabeth Satterwhite. I've checked this before for someone else and I don't think they married in Dade County but can't remember what I found. I tried DeKalb County AL marriage records but didn't find anything there either. Linda Wilson.... isn't Susan Elizabeth Satterwhite related to one of yours? They weren't in Dade County 1880 census. Was Susan Elizabeth Satterwhite the daughter of David Satterwhite and first wife, Mary E. Beckham? As far as a marriage record for James Alexander Mason and Rachel Nettie Irwin... they were married in Walker County GA and can be found in Walker County marriage book 5, page 233. If you will telephone Probate Judge Foye Johnson's office in LaFayette, they can mail a zerox copy of the record to you for a small charge. Or I can get a copy for you when I'm in LaFayette which will probably be one day next week. You asked the question about original records in Walker and Dade County. Walker County marriage records go back to 1883 with a few recorded late that took place prior to 8 Feb 1883 when the courthouse burned. Dade County marriage records are back to 1866 with a few prior to that time that were recorded late. Sue

    2. What marriage records are you needing from Walker and Dade Counties... maybe I can help with them. Karen, both of our microfilm readers at the Dade County Library are going to have to out to be repaired. If I can get one to work I'll try the 1920 census but like Sarah, got just a little more info on him? Sue -----Original Message----- From: DavidRoach@aol.com Sent: Nov 11, 2003 11:04 PM To: GADADE-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [GADADE] Look up in 1920 Karen, If no one has found him yet....Do you have Charley's age in 1920 and/or birth place. I looked in Dade and didn't find a Charley, Charles, Charlie. Closest name was a Shade C. Hale age 58, wife Mary J wife some kids. I looked also in DeKalb, Ala and surrounding Ga counties. There are Hales in most of them. There is a Charley in Chattooga County, Georgia. I'll be happy to look further, just send me what info you have that might help me. I've had you on my list to email since we got back from Texas and just haven't gotten to it. First....our trip to Texas was great. We stayed much too long in Howe though and had to drive home in a day and 1/2 so we only got to stay in McAlester about two hours....luckily the Oakhill Cemetery was right off the road we were on. We found George and Elizabeth's graves...but not his kids, etc. That Cemetery is huge!! This trip unfortunately had objectives other than Genealogy. We will be coming back in the spring and this time I'll be able to plan to spend much more time in OK and plan a more detail research. If your schedule works out, we'd love to be able to meet you and talk about the Murrays. Second...Do you belong to the First Families of the Twin Territories? In searching the internet a few weeks ago, I found their site and and am in the process of filling out the application for David. I have most of the source info just need a couple marriage documents from Walker and Dade. I belong to the First Families of Tennessee and I think David is going to be very surprised and happy about the OK First Families. Thought I'd give him the certificate as a surprise for Christmas. Third...I know you probably do, but I learned the hard way and am reminding everyone to back up your family files. Two weeks ago, (about a week after we returned from Texas) my PC totally died and I lost everything on my hard-drive (software, data, emails from family, pictures, etc). Luckily I had copied my FTM files to my laptop to take to Texas in case we got to spend time in OK. I have spent hours recovering software and data but am so grateful for Texas. I still remember something about every day that I have lost, but I would have lost a lot more if I hadn't taken that trip. I just hope my PC it is finally fixed.. the repairman has worked on it three times. So much about my near disaster...just send me a little more info about Charley and I'll see if I can't find him for you. Thanks a lot. 1. [GADADE] Surnames: Simpson, Wood, Wakefield, Allison, Stovall
    2. betty or gil allison
    3. The following info may be of interest to one of you, please let me know if any of this proves true. My search for the Wood line made me come come across this info. In 1860 there are two census entries in Dade County that interest me: Running Water TN Post Office #235 Geneshal A Simpson, age 26, TN Martha, 19, GA Sarah, 68, SC Jane Partain, 78, SC Henry 14, TN Israel 7, GA Offelt, Edward 26, GA Lucy A Wood, 16, GA #236 William R Simpson, 26, TN Caroline, 24, GA Nancy, 6, GA Sarah, 5, GA Martha, 10/12, GA There were two Wood sisters that I know of: one married George H Wakefield and she was Lucy A Wood. the other was Margaret Wood and she was the second wife of John Allison. John Allison's first wife was Mary E Wakefield. Mary and George Wakefield were brother and sister. In tracking the Wood sisters, I found the following census entries and wonder if they are the Wood sisters I am looking for and what is the relation to Simpson. 1850 Morgan County AL, Division 10, page 210 (writing on this one very hard to read) #192, #192 Drury Stovall age 60 Elizabeth Stovall age 54 Frances Orr age 22 ? Stovall age 20 Mal?? Stovall age 18 ( I bet this is Malinda, see next census entry) Sarah A Orr age 18 John Hogan age ? Mary Orr age ? Margaret Wood age 10, born TN Martha E Wood age 8 born TN Lucy E Wood age 6 born TN 1860 Morgan County AL, Danville Post Office, Southwest Twp, page 395B #178, #178 Stephen Simpson age 36 Malinda Simpson, wife, age 28 (then kids names and hard to read) Arah J, age 6, m, AL Walter T?, 5, m, AL William W or M, 3, AL Clarinda C?, 1, AL Drury Stovall, age 71 Margaret Wood, age 21, born AL (note birth state is different from what I know or other census say??) then a teacher is listed, I guess boarding with them. So I am wondering how the Simpson name might connect if this is same family and not coincidence. Of interest in all of this is the grandfather of George H Wakefield, his name being Henry Wakefield reportedly married a Mary Simpson. Henry Wakefield mirgrated from Burke County NC and reportedly married Mary Simpson there. The family would later come to Smith County TN. Gil
