There is maybe three acres to that cemetery altogether. However, most of it is so overgrown one can't get through it now. The tombstones are scattered with many unmarked graves. I have always been told it was a Methodist Church but will try to find out for sure. Sue

I think it was mentioned to me by a family member about it being a Baptist church , and I think they said they read it in a history book someplace.I will ask my brothers and sisters if they have read and /or heard anything like that. My Ggrandparents (Bell) are buried in the hooker cemetery so wonder if he may have started a church there instead. I know the Baptist Church moved to Slygo from Wildwood is not the one. It would have been in the late 1800-early 1900's. Yes, I am the second oldest living sister to Bud. I remember the night he was born. The first boy! We spoiled him rotten. As a matter of fact he has a birthday coming up. Getting back to the church , do you know if there is a graveyard there? I seem to remember one being there about 50 years ago. Thanks Again, Louise

No, there is no building there now but from what I told that was a Methodist Church. I don't know what happened to the building but when it was rebuilt it went up on the corner where Wildwood Methodist is now standing. At least that is what I've been told. There are a couple of other people I can ask also. The only Baptist Church that was in Wildwood stood behind where the post office is now but it was moved to Slygo a number of years ago. Sue PS... Are you Bud's sister?

It's after you pass what was the Clyde Neeley property (don't know who may own it now), but before you get to the big colonial styled home.(built by J.W. Frye) It's on the left side of Pope Creek off the road a bit. I was a child the last time I was there but this is how I remember it. I think there may be a cemetery there also. I am seeking information on my Greatgrandfather , Francis Bell, and think he may have started this church. I appreciate any information regarding him or the church. Thanks, Louise

    2. LaWanda, you didn't give your gr-gr-grandfather's first name, however, we only have two ANSLEY with tombstones in the county. Both burials are at the Hanna Cemetery in Rising Fawn and are: Ridley Ansley, June 15, 1817 - Apr 12, 1883 & Asbury Ansley, June 24, 1818 - Jan 27, 1875 These people were not enumerated on any Dade County censuses. Hope this helps you.
