The Avans Church of God on Sand Mountain is where my dads family always had their reunions, the church is still there, at one time I had contact with the pastor but haven't in a long time. My Aunt Lucy Tinker Snyder owned some of the land where I-59 was built, her children took control of it and sold it - as I am told - Aunt Lucy was a COG minister. I have a post card writtten by her where she says she wants to go to Trenton for a revival. delilah

While searching through Dade County Deeds (I was looking for Hezkiah Stephens), I found a deed for Doctor Stephens. It was dated either the late 1850s or 1860s... I failed to bring my notes in. The next deeds for a Doctor Stephens or Dock Stephens (includes the Stevens spelling) wasn't until close to 1900. If anyone is still interested I post an abstract of it. Sue

Delilah and Earlene: My scanner is not working but I will do something so that you can get the photo. Bertha Mae Gass told me that Jim Avans taught penmanship and I do have a sample of his writing that he sent to my grandparents. Will get copies of that. Hang on and I will get it done. Right now I am having some health problems, damn it, and am not as efficient as I was when I was 20, or 30, etc. Paul ----- Original Message ----- From: Delilah To: GADADE-L@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, February 21, 2004 10:02 AM Subject: Re: [GADADE] Earleen me to delilah ----- Original Message ----- From: "earleene" <erpre@earthlink.net> To: <GADADE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 21, 2004 11:37 AM Subject: Re: [GADADE] Earleen > paul could you scan it to me? earleene > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Paul Vance" <paulvance@msn.com> > To: <GADADE-L@rootsweb.com> > Sent: Thursday, February 19, 2004 11:37 PM > Subject: [GADADE] Earleen > > > > I have a picture of Aunt Sophia.
