Thanks to everyone's help, I've put together a "Forts" page to help identify those early forts that played such a big role in the Indian Wars. I couldn't have done this without lots of you taking the time to point out URLs. Benjamin Hawkins seems to be the most prominent figure and there are several pages that trace his family genealogy...which I've linked to. This whole thing just proves how interconnected all of us are within this region.....what started out with Jones County....just kept moving westward to eventually involve in some way the other Georgia Counties.
