    1. [Crawford County] Hill
    2. Millie C. Stewart
    3. Dear Georgia Searchers, This is one desperate attempt to find my John Hill (age 19 in 1850) who was married to Permilia (age 21 in 1850) sometime c 1849. I have subscribed to EVERY Georgia Rootsweb list (120 of them) in hopes that someone out there knows something about my Hill line. So, forgive me if you get this e-mail several time over. Just delete me if you don't know anything. slowly, I will un-subscribe tot he list as I see that I might not have any connection in that county. I am looking for ANYTHING. Land grants, marriage bonds, wills.....anything. My story goes like this: I am Susan HIll, daughter of Ferrell Glen Hill the son of Bourbin Maxwell Hill who is the son of Morgan Maxwell Hill who is the son of John Hill. My search ends in 1850, Mississippi, Simpson County. I find John, his wife Permilia and twin children (1 yr old) living in Simpson County, Mississippi. In 1960, I do not find John and his family anywhere in Mississippi. In 1870, Permilia shows up with the remainder of the children and Morgan Maxwell living near by, all in Newton County, Mississippi. My Aunt gave me a paper on her genealogy she wrote when she was in grade school. (Just the other day I asked her again about the papaer. She stated that her mother gave her the information and that she didn't know any more about John.) In the paper, it states that her grandfather (Morgan) went to Georgia as a small boy. I believe this to be during the 1860s since Morgan and his twin sister were born in ca. 1849. I also know that Permilia is from Georgia (as stated on the 1870 census). The paper also states that John was born in Nashobia County, Mississippi, BUT Nashobia County wasn't formed at the time of his birth. It was Indian Territory (John or Permilia might be Indian somehow?) There are HILLs in that county, but none that I can connect to John, Permilia or Morgan. The last child of this family was born in 1863 and was listed as being born in Mississippi, so this means that sometime pre Civil War, John, Permilia and children went to Georgia. The largest problem here that I have is not knowing Permilia's maiden name, and the next big problem is Georgia is a very large state when you think about searching EACH county! So, here I am sending e-mail to each and every county! So I appeal to the Georgia Rootsweb (County) lists, please, does anyone know anything about the family listed above? Any little tid-bit might be a HUGE step for me. I have been at this side of the family now since 1980. Twenty years later and I still haven't gotten past the 1850s! Please send any information that you might have to: Rdsable@aol.com If you know anyone that might have information, please feel free to forward my address. Thanks alot, a whole bunch!. Dickson, was son of John who died in Texas in 1858. Joseph's wife was Artemecia Michele Hamlin. This researcher stated that Joseph's mother may have been a first wife (maybe Martha ? ) of John Dickson who later married Sarah Hannah Nichols on Mar. 15, 1848, before going to Texas. John gave power of attorney to his son Henry J. Dickson to sell his land in Bibb County, Georgia and John's estate was settled in 1858 in Crawford County, Georgia. Dickson. Joseph was married to Michelle Hamlin. I have been told his father was John Dickson, and a direct descendent of Michael Dickson Sr, but I cannot substantiate that through records. The 1850 Crawford County census shows him being 38 at the time, and Michelle 31, so he would have been born in 1812, and Michelle in 1819.. > > > This is an automatically-generated notice. > > <http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Ga/Crawford?admin> > >
