Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ga/Columbia/10590 Surname: Barber, Stanford, Young ------------------------- Hi Joy, I found a message on Genforum about this woman's research which was donated to the genealogical society of Utah and microfilmed, and I ordered the microfilm and have copied for my own research the same information that was on the Stanford Forum. Here's the quote from the Stanford forum: Mary Wells Poitevent of Neptune Beach, Florida donated her research to the Genealogical Society of Utah and it was filmed in 1989. Her research includes Stanford and other families. Her work is well documented and titled, Peterson, Wells, Poitevent family genealogical records, ca. 1715 - 1977, and other genealogical data, FHC Film 1320853 Item 7. Mary Wells Poitevent is a descendant of deacon David Stanford. David Stanford had a son named Samuel Stanford, born 1815 in Columbia County, married Elender Pheriby Sanderlin on April 26, 1838 and served as a medical doctor in the Confederate Army. He died October 1864 in Forsyth, Georgia. Heres a 1944 affidavit in Ms. Poitevents research. David Stanford, Judge of Inferior Court of Appling, Georgia, Columbia County from May 29, 1826 to June 9, 1829 Sons of David Stanford: John R. Stanford, born 1788 William Stanford, born 1791 Thomas Stanford, born 1794 Sarah Stanford, born 1797 Elizabeth Stanford, born 1800 Mary Stanford, born 1805 - Wife of John Fletcher James Stanford, born 1808 died 1864 Martha Stanford, born 1812 died 1875 Samuel Stanford, born 1815 died Oct 1864 at Forsyth Ga. ____________________________________________________________ There is also a family record page that has conflicting information (it lists John and David and leaves out Elizabeth.
