Does anyone know if there are complete or partial records for Columbia County? Is Appling the county seat? Who do you call for record searches? Jim Seamans Jim, the court house is in Appling at the present time. They are building a new court house. There was a web page telling about it but I don't have the url now, probably the Columbia Co, webpage. I have been to the probate office in Appling and they are most helpful. Also, they will look up records for you when they have time to do it. I wouldn't ask for more than one item at a time as they do have their work to do. They also have the names of one or two ladies that do genealogy in that area. Don't go there on Wednesday as that is court day and the records room is closed to the public. They have land deeds, wills, marriage licenses and other records that go through probate. Census records you need to go to libraries, state or national archives. Ususally state archives has some census records of neighboring states. I know AL has some for Ga or at least has an index. Hope this helps. Beulah
