It is great to see the recent activity. As far back as I go with my Nelson ancestors is Charles Nelson who died 1805 in Columbia County. A deed describes his land as being on "Bubbly's branch water (?) of Germany's Creek". I think his land would have been near present day Thomson in McDuffie County. The first record I can find on Charles Nelson is the 1793 Columbia County Militia Roster, List of the 14th District, John McDuffie, Capt. James Nelson also appears on this list. Brother of Charles? I do not know when or where Charles was born or who his parents were. His wife was Lydia Hand b.1775 in Surry County, North Carolina d.January 02, 1872 in Goldville, Tallapoosa County, Alabama. Charles and Lydia had the following children: Jesse C. Nelson b.1796, Polly Nelson b.abt 1797, John Nelson b.February 22, 1799, Jane Nelson b.1800, and Ebenezer Nelson b.abt 1803. All believed to have been born in Columbia County. The family of Charles stayed on in Columbia Co. at least through 1822 but had all moved on by 1830. Charles has been my brick wall for a long time. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. ---- End Included Message ---- Learn more about Tourette Syndrome and how you can help www.tsa-usa.org Care2 make the world greener !
