Columbia Co. List, Many years ago when I began research I took a class from a local genealogist. While she was talking about how names were given she said at one point rather facetiously. "And sometimes after they used up all the family names, they just named the baby after the doctor." In my family that proved to be true. A maternal great uncle was the doctor for a rural area in Texas His name was Dr. W. J. Spivey. Later while researching another line, I received information from a man named Spivey King. He told me that his family had felt a lot of admiration for their family doctor and he was named for the doctor. In his case the title "Doctor" was not used--name only but I have seen individuals named Doctor. CWB
