    2. Dave Miller
    3. Posted on: Columbia Co. Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ga/Columbia/570 Surname: Hunt, Sanders, Holmes, White ------------------------- I've spent some time going through my Hunt files for any mention of your William Lucius HUNT. Unfortunately, I failed to come up with anything that would support your hypothesis. Our Henry HUNT of Tipperary wasn't in Georgia until 1773 at the earliest. He had numerous children, but only three sons (and possibly two daughters) took up residence in Georgia, FitzMaurice, William and Thomas. FitzMaurice married Sarah ROBESON and had a mess of daughters and the son you have seen reference to, Henry H. HUNT. I have a family group sheet for FitzMaurice made up by one of his descendents that also lists a son, James HUNT, in this family. I don't believe that any marriage or children are shown for James HUNT. Forgive my vagueness. I don't have these papers in front of me as I write. William HUNT married Jane LANDERS in Columbia Co. and died childless. I do not know whether he is the William HUNT who married Mary CARROLL. Thomas HUNT is said to have married Isabella LOVELACE (according to a grandson) and had two children, Constantia HUNT who married Green DOZIER, and Henry HUNT who married Lucinda SANDERS in 1816. This probably eliminates this Henry HUNT as the father of your Wm. Lucius. Thomas HUNT may have married Sarah MILES as a second wife. There are however entries for a William, Martha, William S., and Ziba HUNT in Columbia Co. Tax lists for 1827 and 1830. These HUNTS are shown to own land in Early and Carroll Cos., besides Columbia Co. I don't believe they are connected to the Henry HUNT family. Good luck.

    3. Posted on: Columbia Co. Ga Query Forum Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Ga/Columbia/562 Surname: Hunt ------------------------- I have been trying to break out of a blind alley on William Lucius Hunt (1811-1872) of Crawford/Houston County by following up on Georgia Hunts with similar names as I have found in William Lucius Hunt's family tree and by following Hunts that drew Land Lots in the 1821 Land Lottery. Three coincidental leads point toward the Fitzmaurice Hunt (1756-1822) line from Ireland to Columbia County. First, Fitzmaurice's son Henry H. had a son named James Monroe Hunt, who migrated from Columbia County to Mississippi. My William Lucius Hunt had grandsons named James Monroe and Henry. Second, A Tiba Hunt and a Henry Hunt from Columbia County won land in the 1821 Lottery near Crawford County. Tiba Hunt won in Monroe County (I think part of Crawford was once in Monroe County). Third, William Lucius Hunt's family had some connection to South Carolina and Columbia County sits on the SC border. These leads may turn out to be pure coincidence, but they are interesting enough for me to want to know more about Tiba and Henry Hunt of Columbia County. I have obtained the Dunning Gedcom which starts with Henry Hunt (1721-1802) in Ireland. It shows that Fitz Maurice had only one son, Henry H Hunt (b 1793). It sounds as if there were other sons. I would be interested in the names of any other sons and their children. I would be most appreciative of any additional information that you may provide on this Hunt line. If you have a Gedcom of Word file and want to send that, please do....Lee Hunt

I have quite a bit of information on this family I would be willing to share. Can you tell me what areas you are interested in? It would make it easier to respond in detail. Fitzmaurice, William, Thomas and Mary Ann HUNT (who married Thomas WHITE, another Irishman) were the immigrant children of Henry Hunt, a landowner of Co. Tipperary. Henry HUNT's maternal grandmother was a daughter of William FitzMaurice, Lord Kerry.
