    1. [COLUMBIA CO.] Abraham Franklin
    2. Pat Vincent
    3. Help!!!! Abraham Franklin was listed as a grand juror in Columbia Co GA in 1799; sold land in Columbia Co Ga 13 Jan 1801; and was witness to a will in 1805. By Sept 1825 he was in Madison Co AL where his will was written. Have found no information about his wife, but children listed in the will and estate papers were: Elizabeth who m. Levi Smalley; John who m. Sarah G.; Ann/Nancy who m. Christian A. Johnson; and Polly who m. Benjamin Maddox in 1813 in Columbia Co GA. The whole family moved to Alabama. Names associated with the Franklins (witnesses, etc.) were Greenhaw, Rochell, Lewis, Bouldin. From the list of buyers at the estate sale in AL, some surnames were also found in Columbia Co GA earlier, ie. E. Willingham bought 3 barrels of steelyards???(looks like). The only son listed in the estate records, John, died before his father Abraham, but he had children, one of whom, Mary, was already married in 1825 to Edward Lewis; others were Benjamin, Ann, Elizabeth, Caroline, Julia, and Alexander. Alexander died young, so Benjamin was the 'last' of this line of Franklins. Would like to find researching descendants of any of these people to learn hopefully where Abraham lived before Columbia Co GA and who his wife was. I'll be grateful for any clues or tips. pat vincent

    1. [COLUMBIA CO.] Moon, and BRISCOE
    2. 1) There is an unincorporated MOONTOWN community in eastern Madison county, Al (Near Gurley/Brownsboro), and a MOONTOWN Airport. I'm pretty sure it had nothing to do with the Space industry of nearby Huntsville. 2) There were BRISCOEs in Columbia County circa 1790 who were from Maryland. They may or may not have been associated with my STONEs from Maryland. (In Port Tobacco, Md, lawyer William Briscoe Stone's mother was a Briscoe. Fifty items of Wm's personal and business correspondence are in a collection at the University of Maryland at College Park. Non-circulating, dang it!).

    2. Elaine Neal
    3. To researchers, Mrs. Edith Moon Wertz, of San Diego, California, is a descendant of this line and has written "Some Descendants of Elizabeth Moon, 1780-1867". I am quoting from her research Elizabeth Moon was the daughter of Thomas Moon and Lucretia xx. Elizabeth died 21 April 1867 in Coweta Co. Ga. She married (1) Richard Neal 16 May 1802 in Columbia Co. Ga. Richard died about 1804 in Columbia Co. GA. They had two children: Mary "Polly" Neal b. 5 Jun 1802 d. 19 Jul 1859 Peter Lamar Neal b. about 1805 d. bef. Nov 1853 Elizabeth married second John Bird/Byrd, Jr. about 1813 in Ga. John died 1818/1821 probably in Columbia Co. Ga. They had two children John Irey Byrd b. about 1814 d. before 1860 Eliza J. Byrd b. 7 Nov 1817 d. 29 May 1894 Edith traces the next three generations in her typewritten chapter. Do you know her? Richard Neal is the brother of Basil Neal of Columbia Co. Ga. My husband is a descendant of Basil Neal through his son John Briscoe Neal. What do you need to know about Neal, Moon, and Bird families?
