    1. [COLUMBIA CO.] Family History Month
    2. This is the article that appeared in Ancestry's Daily email. It gives the information how to support this action. Beulah McCain CALL TO ACTION FOR DECLARING OCTOBER FAMILY HISTORY MONTH ===================================================================== As most of you are probably aware, in the past several years, October has been designated Family History Month. An idea that originated with the Monmouth County Genealogical Society has since spread into a nationwide campaign with the endorsement of the National Genealogical Society and the Federation of Genealogical Societies. In addition several states have passed official proclamations to this effect. Now we have the opportunity to make this a national event. The Ancestry Daily News has just learned that Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah is sponsoring a Family History Resolution to have October officially declared Family History Month. The resolution has been drafted and a letter has been circulated from Senator Hatch's office to all the other Senators to solicit their support to officially declare October Family History Month. This is a great opportunity for the genealogical community at large to receive national recognition for our efforts. To support the passage of this measure, we want to encourage as many people as possible to contact the Senate and urge them to support and vote for Senator Hatch's Family History Resolution. Let's remind them of the widespread interest in family history and the contribution it makes to our American heritage. Make our voices heard! CONTACTING YOUR SENATOR U.S. Senate http://www.senate.gov/contacting/index_by_state.cfm You may also phone the United States Capitol switchboard at (202) 224-3121 and an operator will connect you directly with the Senate office you request. 2. Tom, your Daniel's brother, Capt. John EADES, JR., and Jane [Jennie] FEE were my 3rd great-grandparents, through 1st child Mary Ann EADES and George GULLETT - so we are 5th cousins! 2nd child Margaret Ervin EADES wrote in her Memoirs about Uncle Daniel returning in a futile attempt to persuade John to leave AL before the wars started. Is that where you got your story? She said Daniel was stolen by Indians as an infant ... raised by Medicine Man ... learned his trade and the languages ... didn't say how he returned to his family. The new AL books coming out on Clarke and Wilcox Co's. will have a lot of info on John EADES's only two children and their descendants. Will contact you privately. Anne C.

He later married Penelope Eades, Daniels daughter, in 1820. Michael and Penelope built a plantation on the Amite River in East Baton Rouge Parish, which became the location of the village "Stony Point" which existed as late as 1917.  I am currently working on locating the site of the plantation at Stony Point.  Any help will be greatly appreciated. ---- End Included Message ---- Learn more about Tourette Syndrome and how you can help www.tsa-usa.org http://www.care2.com - Get your Free e-mail account that helps save Wildlife!

Just a note on the William Allen Slaughter Journal - the Journal was written to outline the family history and descendants of this branch of the Slaughters.  The line, as recalled by W. A. Slaughter (1804-1886), stems from John Slaughter (1733-1798) who m. Frances Brothers.  Many of the Slaughter descendants in Georgia are descended from this line. As a continuation, in the November issue, some of the genealogical lines will be put in order and verified when possible.  This small journal brings a wealth of information about a family with a proud heritage.
