    2. Hi folks, I beleive the Hugh Rees you are referring to is Hugh Rees (Jr.) born 1790. He was the son of Hugh Rees and Mary Jane James. Mary Jane died abt. 1793. Hugh (Sr) then married Elizabeth Newsome. Ben Reese

    1. [COLUMBIA CO.] Re: Willof Hugh Rees, Columbia Co., Ga 1826
    2. Charles, My files show that Mary Ella was the daughter of James Vincent Rees (b. May 24, 1845 Ga and d. Jan 13, 1919 Warrenton, Warren Co., GA )and Mamie Pounds. James Vincent Rees was the son of Vincent Rees and Susan Short and Vincent Rees was the son of Hugh Rees and Elizabeth Newsom There are several Hugh Rees so it would take some studying to figure out which one for the letters. I will go through my files, I think I have some land records and what not for James Vincent and Vincent also I think I have a copy of Vincent and Susan's marriage cert. Be glad to share all I have. Feel free to email me direct, petctr@aol.com

    1. Re: [COLUMBIA CO.] Annie Dozier
    2. Michele, No - even though the name "Annie Dozier" tends to run through our family. I mentioned that John and Luncinda Greenway Dozier had a daughter named Fannie (born in that time frame). I am told by an older aunt who lives in Burke Co., GA that Fannie never married and was provided for by one of her brothers. This aunt told me that she was buried in Burke Co., in a family cemetery. I can't seem to put my hands on my notes at the moment to find the name of that cemetery. But I have no documentation of this, only the word of my aunt. My grandfather, James Ollie Dozier ( 1901-1968) met his bride to be while serving at Ft. Bragg, NC in the military. After marriage, he stayed and reared his family in Cumberland Co., NC. To this day, we often return to the Burke Co., GA area to visit our Dozier family. But - I don't know and don't have the documentation of my GA family like I do my North Carolina families. By searching NC Archives, I have found family members that had been forgotten due to premature deaths, etc. My point is that mistakes can be made by the best and the brightest. Therefore, I will keep an eye out for a connection with your Annie Dozier. Is the location of her burial in Columbia County, GA? I can't help but wonder if this Annie could have been a younger sister to my John?? Cathrine

    3. I used the genealogy.com online library for 3 months - free subscription. And that is not information submitted by individuals regarding their families. It is census records, out of print books, etc. The individually submitted trees are another issue all together. When I used it, there were census books, compilations of records, Volumes 1-7 of They Were Here, volumes 1-9 of Georgia Pioneers.
