Fellow Listers, Would any Kirkland researcher or Sirmans researcher have any info on this family, most particularly Patsy Rouse? In the early families of Berrien County by Tharon Griffin,page 98 says that her parents and birthplace are unknown. She married Jonathan Sirmans, abt. 1820 in Appling Co., Jonathan was the son of Josiah Sirmans. It then goes on to list their children. Martha had 3 children before the marriage to Jonathan. husbands are unknown: Melissa or Melissie Roland 2. Mark R. Watson and James Lemuel Kirkland Note all 3 children have different last names..does this mean that she was actually married 4 times?? He writes that her tombstone is in Empire Cemetery and has the following inscriptions: Patsy Sirmans 1787-1884 Mother of Mrs. Malissa Gaskins Mark R. Watson J. L. Kirkland Hardeman Sirmans Mrs. Rachel Bailey Mrs. Betsey White Mrs. Annie Giddens Abner Sirmans In another book the descendants of Emanuel Griner by Tharon Griffin it states that Rachel Griner married James Lemuel Kirkland on 11/20/1892. She was born 3/1875 and he was born 1/1871. The 1900 Berrien Census lists two children at that time: Hardy F. Kirkland b. 3/1895 Flora T. Kirkland b. 10/1896 I can't seem to find these Kirklands.
