Hi Melody, I was in Douglas last week and stopped in at the Court House but was unsuccessful in my search. I was trying to find a 'county highway map' but they acted like they didn't have a clue as to what I was wanting! I even spoke with the Tax Assessor and he seemed clueless too. Yet, over in Pearson, they pulled one out of the cabinet as soon as I told her what I wanted.....go figure :-) I had been home to Valdosta and was on my way back here to SC and decided to stop in and try to get the maps for Atkinson and Coffee counties. You are familiar with what map I'm speaking of? If so, do you think there is any way you could try to find one for Coffee County for me? I'd be happy to reimburse you and to pay for the postage. The map in Pearson was $2.00. The Tax Assessor sent me to the Chamber of Commerce and all they had was a 'street' map of the city of Douglas. Obviously none of them are genealogists :-) At the Courthouse, I also noticed a small reproduction of a Georgia Railroad Map up on the wall. I got so flustered when they sent me to another office that I didn't get back to inquire if I could get a copy of the railroad map. I believe it was from the 1800's. If possible, could you see if they have a copy of that one or if they would make a copy for you? Again, I'd be happy to pay your any fees.
