November 10, 1922 DEATH OF AUNT SUSIE SPIKES We buried Aunt Susie Spikes at the Spikes Grave Yard near Douglas, last Tuesday, November 7th, 1922. She died the day before at her little house near her last resting place. Mrs. Spikes was about 85 years of age and was the widow of John Spikes who died several years ago. John Spikes was a good soldier, a member of Company "C" 50th Ga.. Mrs. Spikes was the daughter of Jack and Susie Nipper. She leaves four children, two boys and two girls, and lots of friends and kin people. The funeral was well attended by her friends and a lot of schools children marched to the grave yard to see her burial. Rev. Jesse Carver preached her funeral. Aunt Susie was a good woman.
