According to Pioneers of Wiregrass Georgia by Huxford Moses J. Kirkland born ca 1832, son of Moses Kirkland (b 1788) and Margaret Carver Thigpen(b 1807), married (1st) Lydia Tanner, daughter of B.H.Tanner and (2nd) Lucy Pickren, daughter of Elijah Pickren. Timothy Kirkland (son of Moses Kirkland and Margaret Carver Thigpen, uncle of Moses J.) born ca 1833, married Celia Lankford, daughter of Parish Lankford and had: 1. Moses born ca 1852 married (1st) Delilah Tanner, daughter of Green Tanner and (2nd) Lucy Pickren Tanner. 2. Cuyler born ca 1855 married Alice Kirkland 3. Mary Jane born ca 1858 married (1st) Daniel Lott; (2nd) Daniel Yeomans 4. Timothy born ca 1863 married Luraney Ricketson, February 5, 1882, daughter of Bryant Ricketson This is exactly as "Pioneers" has it spelled out. I don't know if there are errors! Cuyler (or Kiler as his will indicates) left Alice and his first set of children sometime before 1908 and either married or just lived with Lula Tuten. They proceeded to have four sons (and several stillbirths) between 1905(?) and 1918 at which time he died. June born ca 1908 Richard born ca 1914/15 Timothy J. born ca 1914/15 James C. My husband is descended from the above Timothy J. Kirkland. Kiler's will mentions his wife, Lula, and his four sons, June, Richard, James C. and Timothy J. Executor of the will is John Abraham Kirkland, his oldest son by his first marriage. I have several children for Moses J. Kirkland(son of Moses and Margaret Carver Thigpen) and Lydia Tanner: Moses J. Kirkland born ca 1857 Eliza Jane Kirkland born ca 1858 Zeanus W. Kirkland born ca 1861 Ann Eliza Kirkland born ca 1870 I have one child for Moses Kirkland (son of Timothy and Celia) and Delilah Tanner: Moses M. Kirkland born June 30, 1869 Timothy Kirkland born August 28, 1871 Leonard Kirkland born October 9, 1873 I have one child to Moses Kirkland (son of Timothy and Celia) and Lucy Pickren Tanner: Lemuel T. Kirkland born ca 1897 ?????????? These all may or may not be accurate! It is so confusing with all the Moses Kirklands. If anyone has any input please email to rootsweb. The 1860 Coffee County Census lists Celia Kirkland with the children Moses, Cuyler and Mary Jane. However Timothy had not been born yet. Where was Timothy, the father?
