Do you know this for sure as my father in law was the son of Emmett and Minni. buried at Roxie Mae. All their children told the same story that Minni's mother was not married when she was born and her mother later married a Mr. Rhymes. When Minnie was about five or so her mother died and Mr. Rhymes was very mean to Minnie and the sister of Minni and her husband went with guns and took her away from him and his mother. They raised Minnie from that day on. My husband can remember being told by Minnie how mean she had been treated by her step-father. Uncle Early Hersey who lived in Waycross was a brother to my father in law and he also told me the same story thay Minnie was illegitimate and her step father was a Rhymes and was an only child raised by her aunt and uncle.
