    3. Steve, I have this census record: Census 1870: GA, Coffee Co. PO Homerville, Clinch Co 31st Div. E Date 22-30 Jun 1870. Call #M593. Roll # 144. Page #368, 9. Dwelling #46. Family #46. David Sears 76. Others in Home: Levina 27. Levina was keeping house. She couldn't read or write. He was b NC, she was b GA. Value Personal Property $200., (obtained by me at Federal Archives, Atlanta, GA, Jun 1994) (I thought Levina was probably Granddaughter, daughter of Tobitha Sears & Kindred Griffis. Thank you for the clarification.) But I also have this information: Children of Kindred Griffis and Tobitha Sears: They had 13 children: 1) Lavina, b 1844, m Elias Wright of William. (Listed in 1870 Census, age 27, keeping house for her Grandfather David Sears.) Do you have a copy of the Federal Pension application? Is this the same Lavinia? More mysteries. Jennie >After the death of David Sears first wife Levicey in early 1868 he married >Lavinia Stone in June 1868 and she was his wife until his death in 1870. >There was no issue from this marriage. Lavinia made an application for a >Federal Pension as a widow of an Indian War Veteran in the 1890s. In this >application she stated they were married 6/8/68 and that David Sears died on >11/30/70. It was witnessed by Hiram Sears and Hiram Sears Jr.. >Steve Hill >----- Original Message ----- >From: "Jennie Carothers" <carothers@oro.net> >To: <GACOFFEE-L@rootsweb.com> >Sent: Sunday, March 04, 2001 3:50 PM >Subject: Re: Re: [GACOFFEE] Joseph Ricketson > > >> I have her mother down as Frances "Frankey" (Sarah) Moore, b @ 1764, but >no >> source or proof. >> Her third husband was David Sears, Sr. I believe that came from Huxford. >> Actually, they never married, it was common-law, so I misspoke, now that I >> look at the record! >> >> I have that they had two or three, but I wonder because his wife outlived >> Serena so I am doubtful that they ever lived together.
