HI Connie, Just got home from work.. This Frank Kirkland is buried at the Kirkland Family cemetery and is believed to be Kiler and Alice's son. Read on and I'll post what I have that is different than yours. > Comments, especially if obvious errors would greatly be appreciated! > Does anyone have Frank in their line? Thanks, Connie > > > 1. KYLER CUYLER KIRKLAND was born 1855, and died March 16, 1918. He > married ALICE KIRKLAND, daughter of JOSHUA KIRKLAND and SARAH FENDER. > She was born March 11, 1854, and died December 15, 1915. I have that Kiler was born abt 1854, bit what do I know??<G> Alice is buried at the Kirkland family cemetery and we have just received another confirmation (back in October) that Kiler is there too. He is buried by his son June (Eugene) who is by Kiler's 2nd wife, Lula Tuten. We haven't come across Lula's parents and would like to know who they were. > Children of KYLER KIRKLAND and ALICE KIRKLAND are: > i. ALIF OR OLIVE5 KIRKLAND, b. October 10, 1880; m. JOE MELVIN. **It should be Aleph Kirkland and I have the same date. She died 10/5/1946 and Joseph Alonzo Melvin born 5/101878-3/22/?? They are buried at Reed Branch Church Cem. near Broxton. They have a baby that died and was buried out at Kirkland Cem. Their granddaughter, Michelle was on this list and she may be able to supply the death year for Joe.** > ii. DAVID KIRKLAND, b. June 22, 1890; m. ANNE SOUTHERN (SOUTHERLAND?). **These are the parents of our beloved Walter Kirkland, who passed away last year. Birthdate is right and I have May 03, 1942 as the death date in Orange Co., FL. They were married in Coffee County on 9/3/1915 and her name was Annie Ruth Southerland.** Check out the picture on the Coffee County website at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5941/davekirkland.html > iii. ELIAS KIRKLAND, b. April 11, 1892; d. March 22, 1963; m. MARGARET > YOUNGBLOOD. **Elias is Jeff's line and he can fill you in on this one** > iv. KYLER JR KIRKLAND, b. April 20, 1885; m. BELL YOUNGBLOOD. **This is Denah Kirkland Skipper's line and she is supposed to be on the list also** Check out Kiler, Jr. as a young man at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5941/kiler_jr.html > v. LULA KIRKLAND, m. LONNIE BAKER. **This is not who married Lonnie Baker. Aunt Lula married John Hampton Allen and she was born on 12/21/1894 I'm not sure if her grandchildren are on the list or not. It's been a long time since I've heard from some of ya'll.<G> > vi. MARGIE KIRKLAND, b. 1882; m. W.B. WILLIAMS. **Margie or Margaret or Marjorie was born 12/8/1882 and Married W. B. Williams aka Bub) This si the only family that we haven't heard from and we would like to find them!! My mom doesn't remember them or if they ahd any children or not. When Kiler died, her papers were served to her in Laurens County, Ga. You can see a picture of them at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5941/margaretkirkland.html I just pulled up the picture and will have to correct it apparently. It doesn't do her justice. > vii. MARY JANE KIRKLAND, b. October 27, 1873; d. September 06, 1875. **She is buried at the Kirkland cemetery > viii. JOHN ABRAHAM KIRKLAND, b. April 19, 1876; d. July 1936; m. DELLA > THOMAS. **John Abraham..dates are right. wife was Martha Ella Thomas, born January 24, 1877, died December 03, 1953 They were married on 7/14/1895 in Coffee and the five children were theirs. He married Betty Tanner on November 19, 1922 in Coffee County. You can see John A. and his wife (?) at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5941/johnabraham.html I believe that is wife is probably Betty (Shug) Tanner as I also have two other pictures of his first wife and they look nothing alike. (of course John A. doesn't look like himself either in those pictures, but we know it's him.<G>) John A. and his wife Mrs. John A. (?) are buried at the Douglas City cemetery and have a very nice marked grave near his son's. > ix. ELLIJAY KIRKLAND, b. January 27, 1879; m. MARY LAURA MCGOVERN. **My great-grandfather Ellijay or LJ) died 9/21/1942. (My cousin Laura ws born on 1/27 and I was born on (/21, although not in the same years of his dates of course!!) Mary Laura was called Laura, born October 27, 1881 and died 1/10/1919 of the flu after nursing several of her neighbors and family members. She also had dark red hair and I have several pictures of her that I need to place on the web site. they had 12 children with only 8 of them living to become adults. He married 2nd Belle Hursey who lived near them. Belle's sister Victoria was married to Laura's brother TJ. Belle brought to the marriage son Billy, who then became a Kirkland, whether officially or not, and all of his descendants go by the Kirkland name. Belle and LJ had three children of thier own, one of whom is still living. Belle and LJ are buried together and Laura is a few spaces down with their infant children in between them. They are all buried at Reedy branch as are other family members. > x. ALICE KIRKLAND, b. October 1886; m. October 07, 1889. Hope this helps, Melody
