I ran into this when I was hunting our McIntosh ancestor, was spelled many ways,so look at different ways to spell McCall ex MacCall etc. I found the below info on Ancestry.com as an example, don't know if this could be your folks or not...take a look,name spelled McCarl. Also the intials J W may be throwing you off, do you know what the real name was? Names are a pain.I had a heck of time with Frank/Franklin/Frankline on my ancestor. Those darn names sometimes throw us for a major loop!
