Her father gave her the picture before his death and said that this was his grandmother. I have gone over all the geneology listings that I have been able to find and cannot find the relationship between her and my grandfather. My grandfather's name was Troy Lincoln Mobley. His father was Marion Albert Mobley and his mother was Rachel Lee Mobley. The letter with the picture states that she was born May 2, 1813 and her husband was born March 4, 1814. She says she came to Clinch County in a covered wagon with her sister, Swango. She says that she had two children, a boy Marion who was 10 and a girl, Lou Pine, who was 8. She states that Lou Pine wed Richard Jewell, a Cherokee Indian. She left money to Marion and Lou Pine. My grandfather told us a story that my gg-! gf met her out West and brought her back to Georgia (she says that she came from Nashville). He died before she did and all of her property was taken away because she was Cherokee. There was a little bit of money that she managed to hide. Does anyone have any ideas on this? I believe this letter was written down for Lou Pine before she died by Sarah Royals. The picture that I have is a xerox copy of the one on the I-net. She says in the letter that it was taken May 2, 1865, and that she was 52 years old. Thanks.
