    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: clint_summerlin Surnames: Summerlin Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.georgia.counties.atkinson/641/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hey Everyone - I came across the marker/grave for a James Summerlin (b. abt. 1824, d. 1864) in a field in what is now Atkinson County, Georgia. Does anyone have any info on this guy? His marker states that he "died in defence of the Confederacy in the year 1864". An old family story goes that he was killed while attempting to round up deserters of the army. I believe this might be a son of Hardy Summerlin (b. abt. 1770, m. Penelope Collins). I would appreciate any info anyone might be able to share. I also took some pictures of the site if anyone would like copies (I could e-mail them). Thanks...
