I try to find information on my Greataunt Patsy "Scrap" Tarrant (Tarrance)born in Coffee County , Georgia the daughter of Gordon Howard Tarrant and Mary Ann Carver. She married James M. Stevens the son of Henry W. Stevens and Linney Carver abt 1909 in Coffee County, Georgia . Greatuncle James M. Steven later married her first cousin Mattie Carver the daughter of Patsy Carver. Any information would be helpful Connie J. Carver
The Minnie Bell Hersey who was grandmother to my husband, Lonnie Dean Hersey and mother to Lonnie VerDean Hersey (my father in law) died Nov. 26, 1969 and was 75 years old meaning she was born about 1894 according to her Death Notice which was posted in the WayCross Journal Herald, Waycross, GA. states she was a former resident of Coffee Co. and the wife of the late Emmett Hersey. Survived by five daughters: Mrs. Tom Wilson, Mrs W.J. Smith, Mrs, L. B. Hickson and Mrs. M.L. Hickson all of Waycross (The two Hickson's were brothers.) Mrs. Jimmy Lee Taylor of Nicholls: (Mr. Tayor was either the sheriff or deputy. Three sons, Henry Hersey of Waycross, Lonnie Hersey of Jacksonville (my line) and Lt. Col. Early Hersey at the time in Memphis, Tenn. (Early moved to Waycross after retiring from the military) Funeral services were at Roxie Mae Church in Coffee Co. with Rev. Richard Russell of Waycross and Rev. Adrian Shepard officiating. She was buried there beside her husband Emmett along with several of their children and Emmett's parents are also buried there with several other Hersey families all connected in some way .Minnie was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Waycross. Emmett lived on a farm which if going from Waycross to Pearson and turn on 158 to Douglas just past where the Gillis farm where you can buy pecans. The last time I went that way the house which my father in was born along with the first two sons of his and my mother in law was still standing. My parent in laws lived there till after my husband was born in 1845. I think the farm is still in the Hersey family. I know at one time a cousin of my father in law owned it. Hope this might help in figuring out who each of these Minnie Bell's might be. I think one of them might be my Minnie's mother but I do not know their birth dates and do not even know why I think this. Minni's mother was not married when she was born and her mother later married a Mr. Rhymes. When Minnie was about five or so her mother died and Mr. Rhymes was very mean to Minnie and the sister of Minni and her husband went with guns and took her away from him and his mother. ~~~~~~~~~ Hey again Louise I wonder if you know who the mother of Minnie and her sister Mollie was? I would like to have her in my database attached to the correct parents. I posted a note on the Coffee list so others could see that there are 3 Minnie Bells. I appreciate you speaking up and telling us that we had our Minnie Bells mixed up. Thanks again Sherry ************************************** AOL now offers free email to everyone.
