I remember my dad talking about the lynching of a Dave or Will Wright, I think it was Dave but he also talked about a Will Wright. Where did this take place. B[?]. Reed Wednesday afternoon and were sentenced. John Strickland, 40, with a wife and six children, the eldest twelve years old, drew a sentence from four to 20 years in the penitentiary. Strickland was reared in Oconce County, came to Coffee County two years ago from Baldwin County. Tilden Smith, 22, who was tried eight weeks ago on circumstantial evidence where the jury made a mistrial received a sentence of from one to five years in the penitentiary. Robert Bullard, 22, who was married just before the mob went after him and virtually drafted him into the mob, and who later when arrested and brought back from Florida and turned state's evidence, which brought about the arrest and conviction of all the other members of the mob, was given a sentence of one to five years at the State prison. D. B. Lott, 18, who had been supporting a widowed mother, and who was forced into the mob over his protest and the protest of his older brother, George Lott, and who did no shooting and nothing except drive one of the cars which transported the mob was sentenced to serve from one to five years at the State farm. The sentencing of these men closed up the lynching trials except for Make Tanner, who fled the county and has never been arrested. Sixteen members of the seventeen men who composed the mob have either been convicted or entered pleas of guilty. Two were sentenced for life, eleven were given sentences of four to 20 years, while three were sentenced from one to five years.
