    3. Christy, I checked before they were married and he's not listed. That is the only marriage I found for him. He may have married in a neighboring county. Looking ahead, I found a Robert Bullard married Lola Joiner on 6/14/1924, Book E, p. 484. Robert bullard, Jr. married Gladys Lee on 3/14/1953, book I, page 418. > I have an old black and white photo of a young man, and on the back it says > Robert Bullard Jr.

    3. Sandra, I honestly can't say whether it was legal or not at that time. I would say that that is the reason it isn't in the index I have. One of the things that I completely forgot to mention is that for many years the marriages were kept in separate indexes. One set for "white" folks, another set for "black". I don't have the set for the black females and males (they're also separate both colors by gender). I'm trying now to get someone to copy the "black" set for me so I can also post them online. If she can't do it, then I'll go and hand copy them. As I said to Christy, I hope to get down to Coffee County soon and I'll look for it then. My guess though, is that you're not going to find it in any of the books there. They may very well have married in Douglas, and just not recorded it at the courthouse. Melody > QUESTION? 3. Christy, I'm not sure if they will send you a copy for genealogical purposes. They might. I have seen Sylvia (the clerk) make a copy of a marriage record to send to someone, but it was for probate purposes. I think she charged them something, but now I can't remember..it was a long time ago. I do know that they don't make copies of the other records at the probate court for genealogical purposes. If Karen isn't too awfully busy and see this note, she may be able to call up there and ask. If you can wait a couple of weeks, I should be going back down there for a visit and I can do it then. Melody Do you know if it is possible to get copies of records > from the Coffee County Courthouse by mail, or do I need to do it in person? I will write to them,

    3. List members, I'll try to call tomorrow and ask about making copies of marriage records for genealogical purposes and what the charge is. In the last year and half I've had to get a copy of my parent's marriage record for business purposes. I got a certified copy for $5.00. There's a possibility that a non certified copy can be made by researchers. Karen

I found their address on the GACoffee site. I will write to them, but just wondered if you knew? I'm in Jacksonville, and don't get up there very often. 3. Melody, I have an old black and white photo of a young man, and on the back it says Robert Bullard Jr. One of my aunts thinks his other marriage and family came before his marriage to my ggrandmother, Roxie. My grandmother was their only child, and according to Grandma, they were not together for long. You found they were married 4/19/1908 and my grandma was born 10/3/1909. As far as I know, she had no recollection of them ever living together as a family. Whether they divorced, or he died or whatever, I don't know. I have found no death records on him. I'll keep hunting. 3. Sandra, I looked in both the female and male index and didn't find them in either. I looked from about 1916-1940. I'm sorry. are you sure they were married in Coffee County? What about one of the surrounding counties? I haven't had much luck with any of your requests, but I'll keep them in my files. Hopefully we'll run across something soon.
