According to Coffee County marriage records Berrien McLendon married Eliza Sutton on May 21, 1890 Book C-1, pg. 244. Marriage records that I have start with 1874. He may have possibly married before this date. There is no listing for any of these McLendon's in the Cemetery book. Hope this helps. Hi Melody, I was in Douglas last week and stopped in at the Court House but was unsuccessful in my search. I was trying to find a 'county highway map' but they acted like they didn't have a clue as to what I was wanting! I even spoke with the Tax Assessor and he seemed clueless too. Yet, over in Pearson, they pulled one out of the cabinet as soon as I told her what I wanted.....go figure :-) I had been home to Valdosta and was on my way back here to SC and decided to stop in and try to get the maps for Atkinson and Coffee counties. You are familiar with what map I'm speaking of? If so, do you think there is any way you could try to find one for Coffee County for me? I'd be happy to reimburse you and to pay for the postage. The map in Pearson was $2.00. The Tax Assessor sent me to the Chamber of Commerce and all they had was a 'street' map of the city of Douglas. Obviously none of them are genealogists :-) At the Courthouse, I also noticed a small reproduction of a Georgia Railroad Map up on the wall. I got so flustered when they sent me to another office that I didn't get back to inquire if I could get a copy of the railroad map. I believe it was from the 1800's. If possible, could you see if they have a copy of that one or if they would make a copy for you? Again, I'd be happy to pay your any fees. I'd like to take a moment and wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I will be leaving Metro Atlanta Christmas Day (evening) to visit family in Coffee County and will be there all week. Due to the weather that we've been having here, my phone lines are not working. Bell South has promised to get it fixed before Wednesday. Since I have to work tomorrow, I will be checking my e-mail here at work and then in Coffee County, I'll be using Mom's computer. Feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions or comments. My address mmccook@bellsouth.net is still working. for those of you that have requested the Tanner or Solomon articles, I promise that I will get them in the mail while I'm down in Douglas. I hope to be able to spend some time at the courthouse and the library and Family History Center while there and I'll take your requests with me as always. Please have a great time this holiday and make it a great memory to keep. Thank you all for your support and help this past year. I hope we can make the new year an even better one for all of us. May all your "brick walls" come tumbling down!! May you find that elusive ancestor that you've spent years searching for, and may all your genealogy puzzle pieces come together!! Take care, Melody
