Can anyone tell me David Fender's wife's correct name? I have seen it both as Mary Rentz and as Mary Hiers. does anyone have any documentation on which is correct? Thanks, Melody
If any of you know of any cemeteries that have not been surveyed in the Coffee County area, or if there are any particular cemeteries that you would like to see on the web pages, please let us know. I do know for a fact that all the African-American cemeteries in the Coffee County area were not included in the Coffee County cemetery book. we would like to add these to the web site also. I have been working on a book compiling the cemeteries of Atkinson county. If you know of any cemeteries there that might be forgotten or are kind of off the main highways, please let us know. the big ones that are related to Churches, I have, I need the little unknown ones. Also, if you have any cemetery surveys that you would like to contribute, please contact us. I do know that several of you have offered your help and we do appreciate it. Don't forget, anyone wishing to join us on the 28th of this month, for cemeteries near west Green and Broxton, please let us know. We look forward to you joining us. I know that there are several "cemetery-hoppers" on this list so please come out and be with us. Karen can provide you with the list of names of the cemeteries that we will be surveying and anyone having any history on these will be welcome. take care, Melody
For those of you interested in seeing where the old settlements were in Coffee County, this site is a wonderful place to look. http://www.cviog.uga.edu/Projects/gainfo/courthouses/coffeeCH.htm You can check out pictures of the old Courthouse, and view small maps from 1856 - 1970. Communities like Feronia, Gully Branch, Paulk, Spalding, Ocmugeeville, Byrds Mill, Shepherd, Phillips Mill, Weston, Darts Mill, Garrant, Sandy Hill, McDew, Brooker, Wilcox, Pickren, Fawn, Fales, Pinebloom, Lotts, Barrows Bluff, and a number of others. They really are interesting! for those of you that have Acrobat Reader, there is a good DOT map from 1998. I was able to find a lot of the cemeteries on there...I just had to enlarge it 200%. Please have fun with these maps. They really are interesting and give you a better idea of where everything was or used to be. You may want to try some of the other counties that your searching for family in. I only looked at Atkinson County and it didn't have a good DOT map on it. Take care, Melody
I can't remember who mentioned Tickle Toe Lott a long while ago. I just came across his wife's obit. No children. Let me know if you would like a copy. Melody
Just wanted to let you know that Karen and I have been updating both the Coffee and the Atkinson County sites. A lot of it has been just general maintenance, but we also wanted to let you know about the new pages and the new pictures that have been added. On the Coffee site, Karen has already let you know about the Flem Harper Cemetery, the Day Cemetery, and the Harper Cemetery. These can be found at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5941/cemeteries.html I've also added a picture to the Kirkland Cemetery page and three pictures to the Union Church page. You can click on the above link to access these cemeteries also. the picture on the Kirkland cemetery page is of a marker that is on the ground where one of the gates once was. The three pictures at Union Church are of Micajah Paulk and his wife's markers, a picture of the Church, and one of my great-great grandmother Lauraeney Benton's marker. We've also added a couple of picture's to the Pioneers' pages: A picture of Henry Minix and his wife and a picture of a "Tom Thumb wedding" circa 1936-37. My father is in this one! Check these out at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Prairie/5941/pioneerpics.html On the Atkinson county pages, I've added some new surnames to the list there http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lane/3390/surnames.html I've finally finished the Springhead Cemetery list and added three pictures there. This is a really beautiful and peaceful country church and cemetery. Two pictures of the church and one of Rowan Pafford's markers. http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Lane/3390/springhead.html Karen has a couple more cemeteries in Coffee County to add soon. If anyone has surveyed a cemetery, we'll be glad to add it. Don't forget to send us copies of your ancestor's to put on the Pioneer Pics pages. I still have a few more of those to add also. I will be going down to Coffee County on the 26th of this month to survey a few more cemeteries with Karen and my Mom and others. You all are welcome to join us. We will probably be doing cemeteries in and around the West Green area. Karen is planning out trip and trying to figure out how many we can get done. Please join us if you can. Just e-mail me and let me know if you can make it. I also apologize for taking so long to send some promised articles, but I WILL get those in the mail. Take care, Melody

The Flem Harper Cemetery has now been posted to the Coffee County GenWeb site. Enjoy surfing it for your relatives. Karen
Members, Two new web pages have been added to the Coffee Site. Both are cemeteries, Day family and Harper family cemeteries. One other cemetery is forthcoming, Flem Harper Cemetery. Pictures have been added to these pages and therefore may take some time to load. Please be patient. The Harper cemetery has many blanks in information that was not on tombstones. If any of you can supply this info please let Melody or myself know. Many of those buried there are descendants of Walter and Rebecca Harper. Karen
No problem Clydie. If you need a lookup for anyone that may have married in the 1851-1900 date range, I'll be glad to do it for you. Thanks Christy, I suppose it was to early for my cousins. They were born in early 1900s. I just forgot the dates you had said you covered. Thanks ever so much. I appreciate the time you took to look, and answer my request. Thanks a million. Always Clydie
Diana, I think I sent you what I could find a few months ago (we discussed my jury duty and your Thunderbird Spirit Drill Team, remember?). Do you need me to re-send? Hope your holidays were great! Ludell, I'm sorry, but I don't see any of your names on the FTM Marriage index for Georgia 1851-1900. What county do you think it may have been in or general date range? Maybe I could find something that way?? Clydie, So sorry, but I don't find any of your names in my FTM index. It only covers 1851-1900 though. What years would your cousins have been born in? Steve, I have the Family Tree Maker Marriage Index for GA, 8851-1900. I will send some info to you privately since their copyright policy prevents me from sending it to the list.
