    3. Clyde, According to the Coffee County marriage records there is a Leonard Rickets and Jacqueline Meeks married on May 22, 1944. Reference is marriage book H page 171. That's all I have at home to reference the other info will have to be looked up at the courthouse. 3. Is there anyone on the list that lives at Starke? I need someone to look for a death certificate of someone that died in 1952, possibly at Starke. Her name was Vianna (Hooks) Peebles. She is buried in Emanuel County. I have searched the Georgia death certificate index, the social security death index, and available funeral home records, to no avail. I would like to know the date of her death and if possible, the names of her parents. Thanks. Clyde

    3. I have a Jacqueline Meeks, daughter of Dennis Newton "Newt" and Vertie M. (Schwalls) Meeks, born circa 1932 at Kite, a small town in Johnson County. She is a distant cousin to the Meeks in Coffee County (like me). I have a note that she married Leonard Ricketson on May 22, 1944, in Coffee County. It was pointed out to me that Jacqueline was only 12 at the time. So, either there is probably a mistake in the year, or else it was another Jacqueline Meeks that married Leonard Ricketson. Possibly I made a typo. Possibly they married in 1954. Does anyone have access to the 1944 and 1954 marriage records, and if so could you check? And, I know it's asking a lot, but could you check the application to see who the parents of that Jacqueline were? Who were the parents of Leonard Ricketson and when was he born? Thanks. Clyde

I was just in salt Lake at the genealogy library and I just ran across this family and the massacre. I was working out of two books. One was History of Irwin County by J.B. Clements and the other was "Genealogical Material from Legal Notices in Early Georgia Newspapers" abstracted by Judge Folks Huxford. I am almost positive that i saw this in both books. I will look it up next time I am in Salt Lake which will be next month. Patricia Vickers-Blackner

    3. Carver Missionary Baptist Church is just south of Douglas. It's just to the west of highways US 221/US 441. According to the Coffee County cemetery book, 1982 edition, the following are buried there: Cecil Hamilton h/o Gussie June 12, 1906/Nov. 15, 1944 Florence Marie Johnson Hamilton w/o Jim H. July 25, 1943/July 26, 1978 Gussie Hamilton w/o Cecil Apr. 6, 1915/Apr. 15, 1941 Jacob Hamilton June, 1854/Mar. 25, 1830 I would assume that Cecil and Gussie had a double tombstone and also that Jim H. and Florence Marie had one. It appears that Jacob has a single marker. There is no female Hamilton listed that is old enough to be Cecil's mom. Clyde

    1. [GACOFFEE] Sweat and Hamilton
    2. I am looking for the surnames of Sweat and Hamilton in Coffee Co. A woman by the name of Augusta or Gussie Sweat married a man named Cecil Hamilton.  I would assume that they were born abt. 1913 or so.  They had a son named James E. Hamilton whom was born in 1936 in Broxton GA, and died in 1986 in Coffee Co. Supposedly James E. Hamilton is buried in the Carver Church Cemetery.  I cannot find this cemetery listed in Coffee Co....need help with where it is.... Also - I am wondering if anyone has access to any City Directories that are more recent...This James E. Hamilton had a wife named Lera (Mixon) Hamilton when he died in 1986....however her phone # is unlisted.  I would like to write her a letter or get in touch with this woman desperately..... This James E. Hamilton is my husbands biological father that he never knew.  I have been trying for the last 2 years to find him until I received some info yesterday that gave me what I now know.  This woman Lera Hamilton is my key to obtaining info on my husbands father...or a picture perhaps...if I am lucky.  I am also interested in finding out more about the Sweat family and Hamilton family. If anyone can help me with any of the above I would appreciate it very much. Thank you. Pam - Kansas

    3. I received this on my Hill list at rootsweb thought I would pass it on, I have no personal knowledge of these people. HILL-L@rootsweb.com I took a minute out of our volunteer typing time to check this site out. http://www.familydiscovery.com/ It is a fraudulent site because a membership gives you links to our free sites. You do not have to pay to get to any site in USGenWeb Right here, there is no charge to get to all the counties in USGenWeb. We are all hardworking volunteers to have genealogy information free for researchers. I have found links to our Macoupin civil war rosters, censuses, which we spent many hours of volunteer time now to have unknowing researchers pay a membership to click on a link to view our work. Macoupin County ILGenWeb volunteers have put over 1400 pages of free information and continuing to work to get more pages up. If any person finds our complete work in their membership, please notify me. Please pass this information onto any list. Let's try to keep these ripoffs from making their pile of money from our volunteer work. Please pass this onto any list you might be on. Hopefully, this site will be removed soon if not sooner. Thanks for listening. Gloria Steve Hill Natchez, Ms. flacracker@peoplepc.com

The Augusta Genealogical Society has them up to 1993 (I believe) and the main library in Augusta (on Greene Street) has them up to 1997 (I believe). During some years the place of death and residence is in code. Also, the age is in code. If anyone would like to have a list of the county codes and the age codes, I can send you a set. I make frequent trips to Augusta and can look up your Henry Mancil if no one else is doing it for you. Clyde
